I have sailed only on AC1s since 2014. I have a full quiver of sails from 5.0 to 9.2, mixture of 2023 model and older, and have been sailing a lot on Lake George in South Australia where we regularly hit 40 knots ++. I like the characteristics of the AC1 in terms of their top end power/control. The biggest change that I felt has been the three battens and the skinny mast for smaller sails, making it definitely lighter but still as fast. The biggest criticism I have of all their sails throughout the years I’ve used them, is that almost all sails have the wrinkles and imperfections, regardless of the materials they are made from, especially compared to other sail brands like Neil Pryde/Severne and others. That I think has more to do with the fine details of designing and manufacturing then the fabric used, although I can see that the shiny material does reflect light more. All reviews will have some bias and all manufacturers are the same in this regard, not just windsurfing but I enjoy your KZbin posts Neils and your passion for windsurfing! It’s a truly fantastic sport! PS you should come to South Australia between Jan to March when the conditions on Lake George are the best, plus of course there is amazing sailing in Western Australia too!

Thanks - good insights and wild conditions. I see an F1e 7.4 in your van and hope you’ll do a rig and test video for that sail also. I’m having a few issues with mine and would love to hear your thoughts!

the 24 ltd 6.0 is really a great difference, the 7.0 I can't say in detail and need more TOW to find out, but the 7.8 you feel right away the easiness of the smaller profile above the boom and the different profile under the boom even when you don't tune (batten tensioning) it it's so different, imagine what it does as the sail is tuned right and dailed in.

Hey Nils, nice vids. I just jave one question about those black sails. Do they heat up a lot in the sun and ist tve material suffering more with the higher temps? I mean...i love the colour but...i live on Fuerte that's why i ask...

very honest review , i know its very honest because you talked about the "NEGATIVES" ... VERY SHINY ! ..OOOH OOOOOOOOOH . NOW i will buy these , and extra ones for training , and extra ones for spares , and i will make everyone around me buy this , because i "BOUGHT " your honest review... yeah no , there is maybe 1% or 2% improvement over the last 15 years in windsurfing gear ... if they improved like they said and published and advertised every year an average recrational windsurfer would be going 65 km/h easy-peasy and pwa guys would be averaging 75-80 km in courses ... check the timers , there are footages of races from 10- 15 years ago , and chec out how long it takes for the winner to complete the race ... and be honest.

Yes for sure we are talking about a couple % of improvement, like I said in the video, the focus this year has been in improving the lightwind performance and I feel like we achieved this goal. After 40 years of development it is for sure the details that matter in the end and there aren't as big steps as there are for example in the foiling discipline which is much younger. That being said I straight out of the bag took the sail and sailed my All time topspeed on my homespot, because I felt the sail enters the gust with more speed than the previous version, which is exactly what I felt on the water. The videos are not meant to be like: this is the most amazing sail of all time, but rather I talk about what we were working on and in what way the sail changed trying to be as honest as I can ;)

Or maybe you should run your own tests and tell us what comes out of it? Then we would do a video comparing the 2 reviews and sailors skills to provide perspective to the wider audience. You are a genius!
