Perry, the singing barber. So smooth. Some faves, Hot Diggety, Round and Round, Catch a falling star, Magic moments! There is terrific music in every decade and genre if we just get out of our habits and comfort zone, Big Band, Dixieland, Swing. Did you know Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Jelly Roll Morton and others played in Crystal Beach Park in the swing era? The biggest dance floor around. Sad that the park is gone but every summer there's a free concert on the lake shore there of big band music! MERRY CHRISTMAS SUE!!!!! 🎄🎄🎄

@susieq9801 Hi Linda, you are so right about great music from every era. Perry has an amazing voice...one of the classics holiday songs. Crustal Beach was awesome. I remember it from being a kid. It is too bad so many if these places are not around anymore. Merry Christmas, Linda 🌲💚❤️🥰

Going back to my youngest days, Perry Como was a part of our Christmas times. Perry had one of those voices that is immediately recognizable, coming across relaxed and smooth, like a man one might encounter as a neighbor. My parents had his 1959 LP 'Season's Greetings from Perry Como' album in stereo. "Re-records" were rather common when music started coming out on stereo LPs. I bought the 'Perry Como Complete Christmas Collection' released in 2012 by Real Gone Records that has both versions. Even with the 1959 version being part of my family history, I agree with you in preferring the 1954 mono version with Mitchell Ayres' orchestra and chorus over the 1959 stereo version Perry did with the Ray Charles Singers (Ray Charles, choral leader and arranger, not the Ray Charles who sang "Georgia on My Mind" - I didn't realize that for a long while). The Ray Charles Singers were a group that performed beautiful, stylish and sophisticated arrangements with a high degree of difficulty. The more upbeat and straightforward 1954 version fits the song better in my opinion, as you said. I remember having Christmas Eve's at my aunt and uncle's place, when my cousins and I couldn't contain our excitement. I also remember stormy pre-Christmas nights, wearing socks and putting feet up against the glass of our fireplace that moaned with the wind gusts outside, warming my feet while the record player played Perry or Nat King Cole: loving grandparents still around at the time - a time that lives on in memories. 🎅🎄🌟

@@playitagainsue Speaking of oldie, one of my favorite songs by a celebratory singer is Little Drummer Boy by Bing Crosby and David Bowie.

@JeromeDukes I did that one last Christmas. If you are interested, you could check it out. It is a fantastic duet with 2 unlikely combined singers but boy does it work well 🤗🩵
