This man is tapped into Darmic reality. He pulls in information and solutions when needed from the universe. All it takes is to ask, be open and believe. The more you practice the better you get. Its not a religious thing its your birthright.

Rick Rubin's perspective reminds me of Lao Tzu's wisdom: 'By letting go, it all gets done.' True creativity flows when we release control and allow the process to guide us. A beautiful reminder to trust in the unfolding of life.

Thank you. I love to sit and draw. I made a little " studio" in our den. No t.v. ( years now) so it's perfect. I came to realize that it brings me a place of stillness and focus. I went through a period when I felt to busy to be creative. I forgot how calming it is and found I was too stressed to get anything done! I encourage artist endeavors no matter what the outcome is especially with children. Thanks for reminding me that this moment can be creative, it's up to us.

creative act - One of my favorite books-or perhaps the only book I’ve listened to tens of times-is my go-to whenever I’m bored or overwhelmed. It’s a truly beautiful piece of work. I’ve written several articles about it on my blog and even translated a few chapters into Farsi.

If you hold an unsolved problem lightly for a while it is amazing how often the 'right" answer bubbles up. You can't force it so hold it lightly. That way living becomes a creative undertaking and life a spiritual experience. You don't need drugs.

@@justmadeit2 Not only meditate, but meditate on something positive about yourself. Something positive and current, no matter how small. In my experiences, the universe seems to respond to requests or prayers by affirming that you're asking for something. ME: Man, Universe/God/Whatever--I wish I was happier. I need to be happier. UNIVERSE: Very well. You need to be happier. Your need to be happier is granted. So...I keep needing to be happier. And that's it. Telling yourself positive things about yourself--no matter how small, even if it's, "I woke up at a good time," "I made healthy food choices," "I complimented someone today"--start to affect you in good ways. It takes a little bit of time but you'll soon start to notice more positive things about yourself to focus on and it starts snowballing to the point that other people start feeling good around you. Also, negativity in a psychological or emotional state is similar to a negative force in real life: it repels and pushes objects away. Positivity attracts things: new energy, new paths, new experiences, new people. The Universe then feels more open to you. Hopefully this makes sense. And it may sound corny but try it and see what changes it makes in your day-to-day.

The key thing he mentions is that: "for the first time he took a walk on the beach". If we became less inwardly focussed on self - and more conscious of how we fit into and engage with nature, then we can never fall into depression. Nature let's us get in touch with our senses in a way that does not wear us down but rather it soothes the senses - makes us more aware of how enjoyable and precious each moment of life is. Depressed... then get yourself alone into nature and just allow the smells, sounds and feelings envelope you. Its like getting a big hug from someone you love dearly.

Rick Rubin's approach as a producer is subliminal taping into someone ones creativity on a different level to the usual approach which is beutiful. As a musician myself l learned over the years that art and music especially is only limited by the imagination of the person playing it.

Thank you! This is so beautifully explained. I can confirm as an artist, life is one big collaborative wave. I’ve found it’s key to stop believing the chatter of your mind (you can’t necessarily stop the cacophony of thought, that will happen. But you can stop indulging and entertaining your thoughts). Once you start noticing, really noticing the present moment and diving into the silence at the center of your being, then your vision widens and you start to see the universe’s playful bids to guide you in a really beautiful dance of creativity. This is what it means to be an artist, and it’s available to all human beings.

right? what if you haven't been pushed by any wave? what if you haven't differentiated despite some obvious skills or interests? what if you've sincerely gone for it with your skills and interests? push harder they say. bull. what a ridiculous world where you have to aggressively push yourself through the noise to be relevant. so, one tries to let go in that and just be content with existing, be best you can with those closest to you, do the things you enjoy without any agenda of making a living out of it. while putting up with bullshit jobs. tis a weird realm.....
