You got right here and 🧢🧢 on harden. And was quick to show the bad footage and fail to mention how effective he scored through contact on the mid range and his 3 was falling consistently. Also harden’s has never been an Uber athletic player and struggled with really athletic defenders

@andrewharms3462 жыл бұрын
Yes he’s a top 25 player ever in this league. But only cause of his play while in Houston. But let’s stop acting like he’s the same James Harden from Houston, cause he ain’t. Ever since they changed the rule for drawing contact he hasn’t been the same. He’s not getting the calls he once did and he’s not putting anything close to the numbers he once did. What he’s done in the league is different then what he’s doing and the past 2 seasons he ain’t done nothing really.

@King_Kunta2 жыл бұрын
I dunno about this take. Harden has always had trouble breaking down athletic defenders. Now of course he doesn’t have the same burst as he did at 27, the man is 33 in a week or so, and he is coming off of a hamstring injury. Howeve, his first step has improved drastically from the last season in a half. One thing you failed to discuss was harden taking mid range jumpers, which was a staple of his before Dantoni came into his life. This was how he was able to score against bigger defenders. He has taken more time shooting mid range jumpers than he has been shooting 3s, which he has actually been criticized for due to taking so many 3s. I think the league is in for a rude awakening in October
@HenryHoops2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. James didn't look like himself last season - it was probably the injury bothering him. I actually had a section on Harden's impressive midrange scoring that I removed - now i wish a kept it. Here's why I removed it though: The 2023 Sixers are built like the D'Antoni Rockets + Joel Embiid which makes me think that Harden's midrange won't be the go to offense for the Sixers. Last Season, only 10% of James Harden's shots came from midrange pull ups. It was around 6% with the D'Antoni Rockets and 20%+ prior www.nba.com/stats/player/201935/shots-dash?Season=2021-22 This coming season I think we're going to see that number drop even further. It's going to be 3s, layups and assists for Harden I like your take so if you want to chat more basketball or possibly work together hit me on IG @HenryJHoops
@King_Kunta2 жыл бұрын
@@HenryHoops very good assessment. I’m honestly I think the go to offense is going to start and end with Embiid. Harden being the main facilitator with maxey becoming the second option? I think harden may be inclined to take a bit more mid range jumpers. Especially when Embiid is on the bench which will allow harden to open up his offensive arsenal a bit more.
@HenryHoops2 жыл бұрын
@@King_Kunta Yeah I agree. Joel is the #1 option. i think Harden's priority is to facilitate. James will get defended by the toughest perimeter defender but this will/has allowed Maxey to be the 2nd scoring option. Tobias Harris is also a close 2nd/3rd scoring option too depending on the matchup.
@King_Kunta2 жыл бұрын

You are simply wrong. He always had problems with athletic defenders and so he had to rely on his skills and smarts even during his Houston years. And range? @flightlessdrone57342 жыл бұрын
a grade 2 hamstring injury?..🤔 a grade 2 hamstring is an actual tear in the hamstring. there is no way harden could have walked for any length of time without experiencing extreme disomfort/pain let alone run up and down a court for entire game. that was just another media generated excuse that harden benefited from. it happens every year.
@flightlessdrone57342 жыл бұрын
@Science Lad isn't it funny---harden is not the first athlete to have a hamstring strain (supposedly). but why is that it's been over year since the injury and people are STILL talking about the "lasting weakness" of the injury? and mind you---it's not like harden is/ever has been the most athletic or explosive player. it's like people are desperate to explain why harden under performs in the playoffs. instead of acknowledging that it has more to do with his style of play than anything else. 🤷♂
@flightlessdrone57342 жыл бұрын
@Science Lad lol....a grade 2 hamstring strain is a TEAR in the muscle smh. I said supposedly because again, if he actually had such an injury he wouldn't have been able to play in the series against Milwaukee. this doesn't make sense to you?
@flightlessdrone57342 жыл бұрын
@Science Lad harden's is not the most athletic or explosive. so why would you think that a SUPPOSED hamstring strain would have such effect on his game to the point where it would be the reason for him under performing 2 YEARS LATER. especially, when he's been under performing (in the playoffs) since he was in Houston? smh.
@flightlessdrone57342 жыл бұрын

In the NBA he will have shooters surrounding him so they can’t double him easily

5:12 You can't compare 2018 Harden to 2021-22 Harden because the rules were different and he could hunt those fouls. That forced his opponents to give him the space he needed to take that first step, now they can all but drape themselves on him and smother his maneuverability. He has to adapt his game but that saying "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" exists for a reason.
