The way Monk smiled at Sharona wish such admiration when she said “looks like you picked the wrong two women to mess with” will always get me. He respects and admires her so much. It’s not romantic like most shows have it. They are friends. He sees her as his friend and partner in crime and genuinely cares about her. I have always loved that.

Also got a huge kick out of her NJ accent (as a non-American), made all of her dialogue 10x funnier. They had lightning in a bottle with the original cast/characters. Randy, Stottlemeyer, Dr. Kroger, Sharona, and obviously the inimitable Adrian Monk. All of them were fantastic.

A magnet can't really work that strongly from a distance of 3 feet. The attraction power decreases very quickly with distance. When you see these electromagnets being used on TV at a car junkyard, say, the magnets only attaches to the object when touching of a few inches. Also a magnet that size would weigh > 100 lbs.

I agree. Both shows are great. I find Monk more fun to watch, but I have to give the edge to Columbo for the character. Columbo knew who did it within a few seconds of being on scene. But it took him the episode to prove it. He also had a bit of a dark side that Monk didn't, where he would manipulate the situation to get the back guy, even if he had to break the rules. In a way, they were opposite, in that Columbo was an expert in human nature while Monk was a perfect observer of the physical world. But they were the same, in that their adversaries always underestimated them. That last part is a bit weird, now that I think about it. Imagine the bad guy, who is often at the first scene, being introduced to either of them as "this is Lt Columbo/Monk. He's been doing homicide investigations for 20 years. If he doesn't catch this person, it will be the first time he's failed. Best of luck!"

5:11 watch him take the 'car battery' out of the bag. Didn't even fake trying to make it look heavy, must have taken the lead out 🤣

Occasionally, the USA produces a well thought out programme, hires good actors and has great scripts. This is one of them.

I have searched several times and cannot find any outtakes or bloopers from the Monk series. Why? Some contractual thing? I dunno.

okay, so all he really needed to do was get rid of the magnet and he probably would have gotten away with it. even if she ended up confessing that he wasn't with her, the police couldn't have proved that he actually was in the room when he actually wasn't. With a good lawyer he would have gotten acquitted. It was keeping the magnet that screwed him.

Major plot hole. The magnet would be pulled up about as much as the weights were pulled down. The Ceiling would be all marked up.

So an electron magnet has the power to move things across a room that is one floor up, yet they only thing in that dining room that is affected is the statue? Big continuity error there.

2:40 A MAGNET? Just guessing... lets see. Heck yeah, I was right. Clever plan really. Besides everything in the room being tilted. I use to watch Monk every morning before school, getting baked haha. Thats and Jordan's Crossing or something haha.
