It definitely still exists! I have felt it in the past for sure, so you're not alone. I think a way for me to ease that feeling, is to think about how I would feel if someone approached me how I'm approaching them. For example, if I would love it if someone came up to me in a coffee shop and complimented me, so other people would probably like it. And I have straight friends who have said they always appreciate a compliment, no matter who it's from. So if you're complimenting someone, you're far from being "predatory." I'm also masc so I think I feel the stereotype a bit more than the next person, but I think over time I've felt it less and less.

about being a "gay icon" like figure and being afraid of bad public reaction if one gets a straight role, i get this feeling. i think it's something like, because of heteronormativity, when someone that has influence comes out, it becomes a big part of their personality for the public. and yes, sometimes it is a big part, but also a lot of people tend to think that it is their ONLY revelant trait, ~~so if this person gets distant from this trait by, say, getting a straight acting role this public might feel disconnected from the only trait they really reconignize from that person. it shouldn't be like that, you know? still, i hope that as time passes people will become more familiar with liking other people based off more things than only because of their sexuality. it might also be a consequence of lack of this representation., we just end up craving it a lot and not really caring about other content(i mean straight content). i even find myself only interested in queer content when looking for a new tv series or movie. ok, i just said a lot
