This is eye opening ! I also think many of us dive way too deep into checking all our options instead of just making music with what we have ! Too much Choice can kill creativity and cause procrastination.

it's to a point where I got an electric guitar but spent hundreds of hours playing it unplugged cause every time i'm trying to find some good virtual amps there's too much shit and I don't want to be plini or some producing master right away I just want to make music to be a bit happier than if I didn't made music

I honestly started using Abbey Road 70s Drummer and nothing else. Two super fugging high quality drumsets with an amazing built in mixer. I was never not able to get the drumsound i wanted from that.

If you like tight hihats get superior drummer, if it doesn't matter to you get addictive drums. The teletone audio kontakt libraries have a vibe if you like it it's really good but not super versatile. Ive found with so many options in this era learning how to make my own restrictions is vital. I tend to just use one synth per a song for everything. Setting timers so i have to make a decision etc.
@camus.mp3Ай бұрын
tight hats is all i like but fuck sake it's $650 aussie (and yeah restrictions are essential)

For virtual drums, it's usually SD3 for realism, AD2 for pop, SSD5 for processed rock/metal. Each can do basically everything, but these are their comfort zones. For simpler drums or less realistic parts I use samples/loops/breaks. Drum machines, like the 707, 808, 909, LinnDrum, and DMX are timeless (and free online). Splice gives the most variety, but it can sound stock and overused. Versatility isn't just a trait of a library or a sample pack - it is also a workflow and practice. I love collecting samples, but today we are spoiled by choice. Defining your voice by embracing limitations is important when you have a low budget or limited time. I constantly stretch what everything was made for - from the LinnDrum on country to SSD5 on retro 70s pop. Creativity is fragile - making fast decisions is vital.

thats why i've been making my own stuff from scratch since i started my music/producer/sound design journey. i have never downloaded a kit and will probably never do so. why spend money on stuff i can make for free with vital and other free plugins?
@djbaghdaddyАй бұрын
That sounds so tedious and a complete time-suck, but you do you man
@tozkal96Ай бұрын
@@djbaghdaddy i mean you dont have to do it if you don't think its fun. i think its fun so personally its not worth the amount of money i would spend for sounds that i will have to sounddesign to get them perfect anyway. i'd rather just learn the basics and create what i need in the same amount of time it would take to find a comparable sound that cost money. one positive is also that if i in the future got good enough to make a career out of music i would have multiple lanes to do so. and i wouldn't have to pay any type of royalties for using someones sounds.
