Yeah, in those days... what happens to artists? It's like that bit in Trainspotting: One day you've got it and the next you just don't. There's a moment, or a window. Paul's later solo stuff is okay but just doesn't compare. I say the same for Bowie, but people get really upset when you say the new stuff isn't nearly as good... or any good.

Sounds so improvised. And if it is, the song once more demonstrates that just strumming a few chords and singing what comes to his mind, McCartney outshines almost all the music that's been on the market for the last 20 years at least.

Reminds me of a story, which was told by Dustin Hoffman on the 25th Anniversary edition of Band On The Run. Dustin asks Paul how he writes his songs, Paul answers, I really don't know, I just pick them out of the sky. i just strum and usually things starts to happen. Dustin wonders if Paul can write something, right here right now. I suppose says Paul. Dustin had read an artical about Pablo Picasso and his last words at a party before he died later that night "Drink to me, I can't drink anymore" Pauls get his acoustic, strums a few chords and the song "Picasso's Last Words" is written there, right in front of Dustin Hoffman. He said, next to birth of his children it was the most magical moments of his life. It is one my favorite stories about writing songs.

@@someguyspage1809 Still 4th though, Right ? Ok your entitled to your opinion. And you're going to get some challenges still. I'm too beat at this point to argue that much, other than say, Bach ?? Eddie, are you kidding ?! Johan was a Top Tenner easy. He had the counterpoint locked down, and his clavinet boogied when he wanted it to, long before clavinets could be leaned over and come back in tune. Yes, he inspired Jon Lord. And Rick Wakeman. A Titan, a righteous heavyweight and pioneer, that took us out of madrigals and bawdy pub songs (those just as valid as Hora's or Be-Bop] but c'mon Bro- You are hip to Zappa, right ? Mo's Art Band ? Methinks Paul is very much not given the adulation, respect and adoration he very much deserves, when ( and if...)he dies for real, the second time, as some may say ( 2 lives is more than most get), I will be there, to second line this Titan of Titans. Fela, knew he was in the presence of a true master. Master Po, just waved him up to the cave at the top of Wuhan mountain, and cut him loose on the world. Didnt even heat up the urn. John, picked a good 'un. You can argue for 7,10 lines- but seriously folks, he's top 3 material. And for my money, Beethoven didn't have a Her Majesty in him. Mozart did, and he could shred, and do Salieri on the spot. But could Mozart pull Jane Asher ?, or Lovely Rita ?, live in Hamburg ?, or Let ME Roll it ? Did he feel the need to apologize to his Uncle Albert or eat Butter Pies ? Did he party with James Bond ? No Sir, not a one, Correct ? The prosecution, in light of Ms. Vito's testimony regarding the differential, hereby withdraws it's case, Your Honor.

This is one of the many reasons I’m so looking forward to Peter Jackson’s ‘Get Back’ in August. Yes, I’m sure there were tensions between them at times, but fundamentally I think there was a deep bond between them all, and I think PJ will focus on bringing this to the fore. That quote from In His Own Write is a reminder that John could be just as sweet and silly as Paul, but perhaps in self-defence, he always had to put the knife in and turn it dark. That gave an edge to his music that makes it 'cooler' in many people's eyes (ears?) than Paul's less complicated expressions of happiness. GOOD DOG NIGEL Arf, Arf, he goes, a merry sight, Our little hairy friend, Arf, Arf upon the lamppost bright, Arfing round the bend. Nice dog! Goo boy, Waggie tail and beg, Clever Nigel, jump for joy, BECAUSE WE'RE PUTTING YOU TO SLEEP AT THREE OF THE CLOCK, NIGEL. To which Paul might have responded: And anytime you feel the pain, hey John, refrain, Don't carry the world upon your shoulders. For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool By making his world a little colder.… John said at one point that although it had started out as a cheering up song for Julian, he thought Paul really wrote most of Hey Jude for him.

Nice glimpse into the McCartney songwriter mind; quite a lovely/whimsical gesture and the video helps illustrate nicely! Wonder if it'll be in the new film... :) RIP Beatle-pets.

@@nurulmaru The word is MYSTERY... not mistery... I've been a musician and performer since 1965. I know music and I've sang and played the Beatles while they were still on the charts. You have ZERO clue about what I know or don't know; you are just another smug, presumptuous, self righteous cultist. "He who sees knows..." is nothing but cryptic gibberish; in the real world it's easily demonstrated that plenty of colossal fucking idiots see things that aren't there all the time; you are certainly one of them.
