In this inspirational series, Sarah Beeny sets out to prove that anyone can have the home they've always dreamed about, even if they can't afford to buy it. Rather than making the expensive decision to move house, it may be cheaper to turn your run-down property into the home of your dreams!

Really? I think the presenter Sarah Beeny is worse, she is passive aggressive rude to so many people, she tears people down constantly, but then laughs to soften the blow of her words. And, nobody tell me not to watch if I don’t like her that much, I only watch cos I’m a renovator by trade and it interests me. But I can’t abide that woman.

I would have wanted to see the finished windmill. That would be an awesome restoration project. Vicky needs to get her head wrapped around that project rather than focusing on her fairytale fantasies. Thank goodness for her mom for spearheading the project. The couple made really practical decisions. I salute them for making their current home work & sticking almost to their budget by making wise compromises.

I just giggle at people complaining about "space" when they are a family of 4 in a 3 bedroom home... We raised 8 boys in a 3 bedroom, 1 bath. I won't say it wasn't crowded, but we did it, and even now, with the youngest now 23, they are all best friends, still come home at least 3 times a week, and we don't regret a thing. People have forgotten what is important. In all honesty, I really would have loved a couple of extra bathrooms, even an outhouse would have been great...lol

@@7ofthem As you mention, they say as much but I think the point is that some people seem to think it's impossible to make do with less space than what would be ideal. I'm guessing they just wanted to give a nice example of how much more important the family in the space is (and how they cope with it together) than the space itself. 😊

Ruined a perfectly nice quality 70s home. The tiling, brick, and slender white porch were features that needed embracing just like a stained glass window in a victorian house. In the 70s people tried to hide and remove these features in old houses in the name of modernization. We recently stripped off some plywood that was hiding beautiful bay window detailing in our Edwardian Glasgow tenement. This house is representative of the same attitude 50 years later whereby original features are removed and hidden because they are not fashionable. Some day everyone will appreciate modernist homes and features as they do victorian features. Some day this house might even be "restored" to how it originally was before someone in the 2000s ruined it.

@@serenakoleno9338 Old trees are just as valued in the US, but wishing for rigidity *is* idiocy. Rather mature trees can be moved/ purchased to give new builds a more established look.
