Indeed. One of the greatest singers of all time. Happy they appreciate her in Europe. Here in The Netherlands you can still buy many of her records/cd's in store, without having to order them online.
Saw/heard this collaboration between Randy and the Crusaders 4 times in Europe, in various Jazz festivals. Miss Crawford is totally recognized as a true Jazz performer ❤

I am in uk ,77 years old and an average musician. In 79 someone loaned me the Crusaders album with Randy, I was blown away with Street Life!!!!!!! Now in 2024 I find the live version on KZbin. Its giving me great memories and tears of joy. The song, the arrangement, musicanship and Randy's delivery is just outstanding what else can I say. Thanks for posting.

Randy Crawford & The Crusaders - Street Life. Randy Crawford has the most sensuous voice and she puts such passion in this song. She knows just exactly what an audience expect from her and she delivers a song from her soul. The Saxophone is such a necessary musical instrument 🎷 for this song. This has a funky, jazzy influence which is most definitely the kind of music I love ❤️ to listen to. The video photography is really good as it shows the performers. I absolutely love this song it’s a really well enacted type of music. Well done, Randy and all the Crusaders especially the Saxophone player. Thank You 🙏

This is the best live version that I have seen of "Street Life". Great to see Nesbert "Stix" Hooper, one of the 4 original "Jazz Crusaders", along with Joe Sample and Wilton Felder. Too bad Wayne Henderson was not there to make it complete.

William, you think so? I think the bass-player is trying too much to sound like Jaco Pastorius and he just loses the groove completely...sigh

@@toddbrittain1060 Agree. The original fat bass groove was not so busy as this. Everybody wanted to be Jaco for a while. The other thing is Stix is slightly better here than on the studio version where he just runs away with the tempo.

Amongst my list of the greatest, but saddest songs ever recorded. A blues feel in an R&B format - almost danceable. But an awful tale about so many people. Its almost like the Stones, "Sympathy for the Devil". Snap your fingers and clap, but with the poignant warning in the end "...I'll lay your soul to waste..." Sting sang a BS song (Roxanne) about being in love with a prostitute. He followed up almost apologetically with "Tomorrow We'll See" which provided the more prevalent realities of prostitution. I congratulate the Crusaders. Their gritty, chilling depiction of individuals stuck in "Street Life" probably saved quite a few people's lives.
