@PrinterpenguinI think the visual boost only on Mario could be an artefact of how the gameplay was gathered. Eg mario was the player character with a modified camera. Or it could be something completely else

the shown drifting wasn't very long. also the blue sparks were pretty small compared to previous games' fully charged ones. that spark is probably just a visual indicator of "hey, you will get a mini turbo if you hold ur drift a bit longer." this already exists in mk8/8dx.

Both Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf Super Rush gave the cast appropriate outfits for the sport they’re playing. It make a lot of sense that they’d also give everyone at least one racing outfit for Mario Kart.

Well Mario Kart 8 did originally come out in 2014, so those tracks are kind of old now. This is the biggest gap we've ever had with mario kart, its crazy

In MK8DX, Link, Inklings, and Villagers all had selectable versions as well. Link had the most drastic difference in costumes, with actual model differences instead of just recolors, as well as different kart symbols and different horn sounds. If they carry that over and have costumes for more, if not all, characters and combine stuff like Cat Mario and Metal Mario in to Mario's roster slot, the costumes could be very interesting with the changes they could make to the character they are for and also much nicer to navigate.

Could this be marketed as the biggest Mario kart to date? If the game has 24 racers, then not only does that mean that the tracks have to be bigger to accommodate the players, but that also means that the roster has to be pretty big to give you options. Double Dash did this too since it had you choose twice as many characters.

After MK8 Deluxe and all it's DLC they definitely have to make this one big. 24 player races is definitely a good way to do that but I do think they might need more than that. Part of me wonders if they're planning something to mitigate the MK8 online issue where everyone was playing a small selection of karts and racers. Like if they are adding customizations maybe there's just going to be different "classes" of kart pieces/characters seperate from their appearance.

I just hope that the biker suits for all the Princesses weren't removed entirely because they were seen as "too sexy". The alternate costume theory does sound plausible, but considering how obsessed Nintendo have been with keeping a clean, family friendly image for the Mario brand as of late... I wouldn't put it past them.

The biker suit was in the movie from just a couple years ago so I don't think that's how they feel about it; if anything weren't the people who were mad at it mad because they thought it made her too independent, and, cover your ears, "woke"

@@adrianoctavio True, but Peach was only in her biker suit for a brief part of the movie. In a game like this where you're pretty much constantly looking at a character's backside for the whole race, even more so if they're on a bike... I don't know. I might just be looking too deep into this, but seeing how Nintendo have been known for their obsession with keeping the image of most of their IPs as "clean" as possible, I just can't shake the feeling. Plus, I'd really just rather not lose the Princess biker suits at all if I'm being honest, as they were always one of the coolest things about them. They were some of the few characters on the roster to actually have alternate costumes in a sense, which made them stand out, so just sticking them with their default dresses the whole time makes them significantly less interesting to play as in my opinion. I do hope I'm wrong, though.

Mario Kart 9’s top priority is to be as different from Mario Kart 8 as possible while not feeling different. It has to be different enough to differentiate itself from literally everybody who bought the first switch, while not alienating the casual players used to 8 Deluxe. So, I think the art style shift should do the trick, especially if they do more character outfits.

I hope kart customization stays. It's what gives the game more replayability as you have so many different options to experiment with, as opposed to just picking a cart and moving on. Online I see a lot of people say they dont like it because "it takes so much time to do" and like idk, its 3 options just scroll through and pick based on what you like or what stat gets the most points. it's not that time consuming, in fact its fun to see what options your friends pick and maybe can start a conversation. Also if you have a kart you like, its options are already there and you just click 3 times so boom its done.

I would absolutely LOVE the idea of costumes in this Mario Kart. Heck, I wish they'd take this one step further so that the costumes are connected to your account so that any costumes that you'd unlock in this game can be used in the next Smash Brothers and vice versa, or where the Mario costumes can be used in the next 3D Mario and so on. Like, what if, once Splatoon 4 comes out, you could use the actual design of your inkling with it's clothing options from that game in Smash Bros or in Mario Kart(if they're still in the roster). You're animal crossing villager? Maybe have character presets on the home menu like how the Mii Maker was on the Wii, Wii U and 3DS?

I hope these chibi/toy-like designs are costumes, they absolutely don't look bad but it's totally different from all the past MarioKarts, except maybe 64. It looks more like Mario vs DK or the Mario RPG remake than any 3D Mario. It will be a bit strange if this becomes the new Mario artstyle after like 25 years of these characters looking hardly any different than they did on the GameCube.
