Thank you , Chris Hedges for having Curtis Wilkie on. I saw this a few months ago and I bought his book. An incredible and insightful book filled with integrity. Being that I was born and raised in Alabama, I have an understanding of the late fifies and sixties being born to a family that never taught prejudiced in any form, as we were basically farmers who worked with both black and white, as we were not wealthy. Those were ruthless days and now look at us in 2023. I am a voracious reader of many books that brings American history and world histories on all sides to gather more knowledge in these days of enormous divisions. This was ingrained in me to read books at an early age by my parents. With the deepest appreciation and respect for this discussion on your program.

@@falsificationism At some point in the not too distant past, it was believed that capiital letters were easier to read. Maybe that only works with hand printed letters?? Sorry, didn't mean to shout.

@@davidpeppers551 lol it’s a joke. But as a matter of fact, there IS research on this. In general, people read ALL CAPS a bit slower and retain less information. I’m dubious though, because some research shows that difficult-to-read writing increases reading comprehension and retention (by slowing reading speed). So the research is mixed, but I do personally think I read ALL CAPS slower. The more you know 🌈

In the 1920s my paternal grandfather and his older brother (who eventually became the county sheriff) both belonged to the Klan. They lived in a small town in the far edge of western Nebraska. At the outbreak of WW I there was a German-American teacher in the local high school. My grandfather once bragged to me that he and his brother and a group of friends -- I am assuming Klan members -- dragged the teacher from his rooming house "tarred and feathered and rode him out of town on a rail". I don't know what the final outcome of that brutal act was. In the 1960s my father was president of the local chapter of the John Birch Society in Madison, Wisconsin. I grew up in the far right and am fully aware of the danger such movements and cults pose. My politics are far from the world I grew up in and wherever possible I try to do work to counterbalance the ugly radical right legacy of my family.

The only thing I struggle with with this argument that most Trumpers and those who were involved with the Jan 6 Capitol riots are economically suffering is that a lot of these folks seem to drive around in big expensive trucks, many have expensive boats, possess a lot of expensive firearms and have the resources to fly to D.C. stay in costly hotels for a weekend of protesting an oppressive system. If a survey were carried out I'm pretty sure that it would show that very few of the Jan 6th mob were actually experiencing hardship even though they may not be doing as well s they would like. Having said that I'm also pretty sure that a lot of people who have been experiencing genuine hardship are fed up with the status quo and might be inclined to support Trump if no truly progressive 3rd party alternative was running.

Hedges' remarks at the start of this video about the "extensive network of law enforcement officials, politicians,state and city officials, journalists,preachers and business leaders colluded"(in KKK activities in the 1960's) and the collusion that the FBI participated in that Wilkie talks about, should make evident that superficial explanations of the Jan 6th riot may be unwise. Techniques are often refined, and technological advances can greatly aid this process... and the truth/facts of what actually happened, and why, in many events, unfortunately becomes increasingly more Byzantine....which can lead many into such behaviour. Fascism in the United States started much earlier than Robert Paxton states in his book The Anatomy of Fascism. Fascist symbols behind the Congressional rostrum are one example. The founders were believers in 'Aryanism' which spread in Europe during the Enlightenment finally crossing over the Atlantic into the Americas, e.g., the Casta/Caste hierarchy. The KKK simply morphed Aryanism into its own symbolism of 'white' knights. Until we recognize the religion of Aryanism in the United States we will never be able to unteach racism.

Keep in mind that this whole race thing was created by our favorite class of villains... rich people as a way to maintain their grip on the surplus created by civilization.
@blogintonblakley27082 жыл бұрын
@Meme Memeson Howard Zinn discusses this idea in his great book, "A People's History of the United States of America". The idea was to stop poor white and slaves from banding together to dispute the status quo distribution of resources. So, rich people decided to give poor whites privileges that wouldn't be available to slaves. They couldn't do this based on poverty, so they decided to base these privileges in ideas of race which were springing up around that time. You'd be surprised how many errors in science arise from the interaction between science and money. When rich people need a justification for something... like taking indigenous land... or greed... they hire really smart people to come up with a really hard to tear apart justification. This process describes most of the Nobel Prizes given in economics. And these kinds of scams and abuses have been going on since the very beginnings of civilization and the creation of a surplus through the agrarian lifestyle. The new lifestyle created a different moral environment... a new set of choices that had never been available before the creation of a surplus. The generally speaking, hunter gatherer ethic that people tend to associate with Jesus in the West is in many ways antithetical to the civilized ethic.

I had never thought of trump as just George Wallace with two damn much money but it does kind of explain a lot. After many years of study I'm still trying to figure out the issues surrounding white supremacy, and there are a lot of good insights in this presentation.
@THEMADPROFdj2 жыл бұрын
Just remember, "Jim Crow", the ideology, was inherently Democrat; as were all slave owners. It is unfortunate that white supremacists don't support the extreme left's ideologies, and therefore, having no other political representatives [thank the lord], they strictly vote Republican. This doesn't make Trump or Republicans racist by proxy any more than drug addicted dealers/smugglers or pedophiles make Biden a border hoppin' crackhead or an adolescent groper/sniffer by proxy; as those citizens vote Democrat due to laxer legal penalties respectively. Those that accept scripted, edited, and weaponized monologues or sound bites from the global elite owned mainstream media as truth and fact are the unfortunate victims of propaganda. It is this aforementioned Global Elite Party pushing their dominance agendas that need us divided, distracted, and fearful in order to subjugate The United[?] States of America. Countries that can't defend themselves against a non-democratic/tyranical government like the Former Sri Lanka, a few South American countries, and the whole of Europe + Canada are easy. Some countries are in a fight for their lives right now! Many have massive, boots on the ground, 50,000+, protesters/citizens fighting to keep their identity. Fighting to have food, fuel, and power! They are the sacrificial canary in the coal mine. NOT ONE PEEP OUT OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA about any of that, just updates on the Ukraine (and those are all carefully crafted propaganda to support The Narrative/Globalist Agenda!) But the USA (and the Netherlands apparently), being the global standard for freedom and liberty, requires extra investments and effort in politician donations, infiltration, dissemination, diffusion indoctrination and a well funded army of angry misguided youthful zealots(antifa) in order to tenderize it's citizens during this untelevised thus obscured takeover. I am a Constitutional Libertarian living in Charlottesville Virginia and do not subscribe to either of the two major parties. As such, and due to a recent invasion by white supremacists to this humble socialist university town, I have thoroughly investigated the claims from The Biden Administration, the extreme left, and the media edited version of Trump's opinion of that surprise event. I found the news clips to have been chopped, edited and remixed out of context, and the anti Trump rhetoric in general being crafted very well by a genius of psycho-social engineering or a group of such. Oh well, it's been a nice run. Even Rome had it's last bad day! I say that with a lump in my throat, but I really think that the investors in our demise have done well enough to permanently polarize, and dilute the citizens with monumental changes in policy, law, science, philosophy, and reality paradigms. With the open border policy that is now in effect in most 1st World nations, by the very same DAVOS attendees, being the dilution factor. The tribal nature of Americans + their faith in the [once reputable] media and it's assault with fear and confusion...A few hints prior to 2020, The dire need to remove Trump, The Georgia Guide Stones, Agenda-21, Event-201... Since 2020, just think about the sheer accumulative effect of the unprecedented variety and volume of back to back news flash after news flash event after events on the minds of your average concerned citizen. Then factor in the apathetic, or stoned, or "keep to myself", and meek that acquiesce like a willow branch in a light breeze. Fact checkers, The Narrative, The Disinformation Agency...We are oh so screwed. Good show, although where does that leave hope if a large portion of the humans are that mentally sick Chris? If you see even a glimpse of hope in evolution for the species to overcome it's demonic nature, please report on that solution. This just shoots hope for survival in the foot, Why save a planet of monsters? How could they help themselves? Good show though Sir.
@nirvanasq14642 жыл бұрын
IMHO, the planet is worth saving despite humans, it is way more than us. It is very sad and problematic that so much of the human population is mentally sick and so self-destructive, but it cannot be explained away in favor of accesible hope unfortunately, it needs to be treated in all its terrible reality, or it will just continue growing behind the skin of the societies self image. If there is hope to be had, we must find-create paths to it while seeing the full problem to its face, so it is real hope that can bring action of the effective and transformative type.

I would check out the teachings of Jesus the Christ, who in the bible (which is 100% accurate with continued fulfillment of detailed prophecies over thousands of years to the present on to the future. Also, perfectly describes the true heart of fallen man and his need for a Savior while exposing the true sources of self destruction and evil), teaches the Way out of this mess and demonstrates what real love is, He perfectly reveals the True character of our Creator, and lays down His life so that whosoever believes can receive true Life and understanding from above.

This right on Garnett Ave in Pacific Beach where are the bars are. At about 11:00 p.m. . Where a massive crowd had gathered and the cops came by right after we walked away. These guys heavily on meth did not walk away they kind of hobbled and their faces were on the ground and missing like noses and cheeks. It may seem like that from your situation, but it's not the case. Decent people outnumber evil ones in far greater numbers. The news in general does not exist to tell us about decent people.

@@ivandafoe5451 not true. If good outweighed evil the earth wouldn't be in such torment. You can't say it's the evil elite only because they get millions of evil ppl to do their evil bidding for them, from military to court officials. Even on regular jobs there's evil in order to keep it. Evil reigns in this final world power because it was built on evil...therefore it must be sustained on evil as well.

How sad for yourself and many like you that eat whatever illusions the mainstream media serves. If anyone is a sectarian it's those that adhere to one or another political party. Not because of the merits of the individuals representing that party, but simply [and I mean "simply"] because that's the team that they've been indoctrinated into. This, despite the glaring evidence that neither party is in full control. As a matter of fact our current Administration is a collection of marionettes, the President having a team of Handlers. The Puppeteers and Handlers write the teleprompted scripts read by the Administration and media that They own and control. The best way, one of many, "They" [elite globalists] maintain autonomy and control has been [and is] to pose the Us/Them illusion politically, racially, economically, etc. That you stay distracted, squabbling amongst your neighbors is paramount to enslaving you.

It was a serious reflection point for the blue collar white working class at the time. They were in a turbulent rejection of organized union authority for not giving the same protections to them as middle class executives and professional men had; everything could be jeopardized by a radical change and in 1968 it began to look like that radical change was becoming a reality...workers revolts, wildcat strikes, factory takeovers all over Europe would spread to the US. Jan 6th is a culminating point of a long history of losing confidence in elites and groping around to find a voice since the democrats turned corporate in the 80s; when they turned their backs on America’s white working class. Biden as president called himself a Capitalist. At the same time, it was sheer bad faith for this segment of the working class to dwell on its own problems at the expense of understanding the problems of other were able to be manipulated and misinformed, mis educated, at best. Indoctrinated at worst. Demonizing the wretched is not the decent thing to do and communism in Europe was no threat since Stalin announced Socialism in One Country after the war...in the end, which would be our current situation, generations later, this segment of the working class did exactly what elites wanted them to do, revolt, and not sacrifice their reasons to be conservative for the greater masses, but, instead be available for one elite to be used to crush another elite.
