"They should put beer in the National Health" - Wow, my Dad literally had Guinness prescribed by the NHS (among many other things) to build up his weight between rounds of chemotherapy so that he could survive the next round. (Morphine is an appetite suppressant and he was on enough to kill a van full of junkies.) His specialists at the Christie Hospital also gave him a bong. They told him the the artificial THC they had to prescribe wasn't the best medicine for him and advised him to buy illegal ganja. (This was to encourage his appetite and relax his bowels.)

This is one of my favourite of their musical routines: not only do they have to know their lines, but they have to know all the steps - and a lot of the time they're in front, leading the rest. lol I looked to see if there were marks on the floor to indicate their positions, but I think I've only seen one. How much rehearsal must this have taken??

This is an amazing example of how versatile these guys were. A lot of comedians at the time came from the Rep Theatre tradition where they would be putting on 2 or 3 plays at a time in the same week. This in addition to running Cabaret evenings and (in Ronnie C's case) also working behind the bar. There is a beautiful book written by Ronnie C called "And it's goodnight from him" which i think you would love. You'll get a flavour of all of the other talented and diverse comedy acts in the UK at the time. All the best mate, keep up the good work!

It’s easy to overlook the fact that pop bands rehearse and play their songs over and over again where as this is a one off live performance. Not only did they have to remember all the lyrics but get the timing right for their instruments ,keep in step and know the marching movements. Quite an achievement.

Can we have a Fawlty Thursday please? Have you watched any yet Mr Squizz? John Cleese and Connie Booth only wrote 12 of IMO the funniest situation comedy tv programme ever, way back in 1975 and even though I have seen tv clips, have the DVD, can recite the script word for word, I still laugh every time! We can have a Tommy Cooper Tuesday, Fawlty Towers Thursday, Four Ronnies Friday but we need something for Monday and Wednesday! Ahhh… Morecambe & Wise Monday!! 👍🏻😄😄

Hello Mr. Squirrel 🤗 Been a subscriber for a little while now, I have a few Two Ronnie's sketches for you to check out, they rarely get a reaction on here. First is "The Man Who Repeats Things" this is my personal favourite because it sums up the genius of Ronnie Barker perfectly for the impossible tongue twister he recites in this sketch, pure brilliance! The other is a cute little sketch "The Inventors Convention" just a nice little very 1970's style sketch that I like. Barker and Corbett were fixtures on the BBC for many years they also had their own sitcoms, Barker had a long running show called 'Porridge' that was set in a prison and Corbett was in a domestic comedy called 'Sorry', both were very funny. Tommy Cooper was a class act but I'm surprised his act seems to have amused your audiences as it did ours. The videos by the way are good, keep them coming.

This one is my favourite. It’s the one I remember most. Amazing to think they did a song like this every week. Ronnie C puts so much effort into it that he gets exhausted. Always that little shoulder move and skip before he starts marching.

In the uk a banger is a sausage as well as a broken up car, depends on the context of whats being said ! If i said i had bangers and mash for dinner that would be refering to sausages, mash potato and onion gravy. then you can say if you look on you tube you can find lots of clips of british banger racing . Thats cars at the end of thier lives racing round a track , like demolition derby in the USA 🇺🇸

Try to find about American brass bands haven't had much luck... in England all started by mining communities the only American ones I can find is army but no mining community brass bands they must be but can't find much about them.

Hi Squirrel..dunno if anyone's mentioned this but there were a couple of other writers on the show,Barry Cryer and Willie Rushton spring to mind.Ronnie B would write stuff and send it to them under the name of Gerald Wiley as he didn't want any favouritism and wanted the material to stand on its own merits.A while later a boozy lunch was set up where the other guys were to meet the elusive Mr Wiley.They were dying to meet ' Mr W' and were disappointed when he did a 'no-show'.After a couple of hours Ronnie B stood up and revealed it was actually himself.It kind of shows the character of the man I think.Keep up the good work...Ken
