Bought one of these in late February. Had to replace the engine in April (all were recalled for the injector problem that hydro-locked my engine). After that rocky honeymoon I really like this car. It is not a sports car, it is soft but very comfortable. The display is surprisingly useful. Having the primary driving info at the base of the windshield is as good as a heads-up display (I swore I would always have heads-up after my last two cars but this is really as good). Having maps up high and always visible is REALLY good (can you say game changer?). The three display panels on the passenger side are not at all distracting and gives you quick info without having to refocus your eyes. I would like to see more choices for those displays but I cannot say what I would like. At my advanced age I still play in several rock and jazz bands and the space for transporting gear is amazing. I'm pretty sure these all have the door column LED lock-unlock feature, it just wasn't working on this test unit. Stereo = excellent. Acceleration once underway is very good and predictable. On rural two lanes I can pass comfortably. I have always liked and respected Sofyan's commentary and I agree that this is a surprisingly good vehicle.

For me, it’s less about quality concerns, and more about contributing in such a large way to a Communist regime. We all have Chinese devices, but this is such a large ticket item that I don’t know if I could look at myself in the mirror if I purchased one of these. Also, the tech is just way overdone, and will likely cost a lot to maintain over time.

72k is for a fully loaded reserve - base price is in the low to mid 50s. MDX is nowhere near as nice inside - it's Honda plus. X5 and GLE shoot well past the 70s when comparably equipped. And none of those competitors have the self driving capability of Nautilus. Lastly, wait until you see the maintenance bills for the Germans before you do the true cost of ownership comparison - ask me how I know as a former Audi owner.

@craigd10 I agree this looks better than an MDX, interior wise...mostly. The piano-bpack door panels on the Lincoln are just as much a travesty as the piano black on the dash of the MDX. Yes, the Germans will have some degree of higher maintenance down the line, but Lincolns aren't known for high reliability. And in the case if BMW, maintenance is covered completely for the first 3yrs. The Lincoln will also drop like a rock in resale value against its $72K as well.

I like the exterior styling, but for roughly the same price I would go with the BMW X5 xDrive50e, which is much more powerful (2 full seconds faster to 60), and still gets better MPG. I've test driven the X5 base model, and it was night and day better than our top of the line Jeep Grand Cherokee (Overland Summit version).
@craigd103 ай бұрын
For starters, you aren't getting the xDrive50e comparably equipped for roughly the same price. It starts at over 73k stripped. Option it out the same and you'll be in the mid 80s. For example, want a light up grill that's standard on Nautilus reserve? That'll be an extra $850 on the X5. Want self driving capability? Another $2100. Massaging seats - $750. Also, the 50e is a plug in hybrid. Once the battery is depleted, you're down to 26 mpg. Nautilus will give you 30 mpg for it's entire 600 mile range. So, X5 isn't quite the deal you think it is.

@@craigd10 Oh really? You don’t need the towing package (standard on the BMW), or the many other options on the Ford? As for your range/MPG example, how often do you go more than 40 miles in a day. And yet go google the Motortrend comparison to the Lexus RX - very similar price point, and they chose the Lincoln as the better option.
@jockboyАй бұрын
@@skycaptain3344 I tested both. The Nautilus completely outshines the Lexus on everything interior. The quality is markedly better in the Lincoln.

Wonky? What are you talking about?

@@jockboy like you're driving and all the screens go black for a minute then come back. Switching from radio, satellite, or phone audio isn't user friendly or as intuitive as it can be. Your audio stops working so you have to do a hard reset. Carplay and Android Auto selection gets disconnected randomly

As far as giant screens in the newer cars this one at least intergrates it better than anyone else in the dash. Does it have a rear wiper though? I wouldn't buy this as it is now made in China.
@jockboyАй бұрын
Rear wiper is hidden along the roofline.

They got rid of the illuminated door plates on driver and passenger for 72k? That’s ridiculous

I just picked up my Reserve 2 hybrid with upgraded wheels for $64,970. With discounts and rebates, I paid $58,970k before taxes. That said, I do miss the lighted door plates.

Recently drove it. Reminds of the 60’s era of futuristic design. Seats were not as comfortable as in previous generation, and engine didn’t feel adequate for the size. Very blah on the inside compared to luxury; this felt more like premium, but not luxury. Still does have a great sound system though.
@jockboyАй бұрын
60s era? What are you talking about? I traded in my 2021 Nautilus, and the seats are MORE comfortable in the 2024, and the engine is more powerful. The interior quality is excellent.

This steering should be regarded as the worst any car should have. Leave the steering wheel traditional please. It feels awkward driving with such a steering wheel.

But why build it in China? Pay American wages for luxury products. I have owned 5 navigators and am looking forward to the 2025 year model, but not if it is built in China. How can this be built in China but still cost more? Make it make sense.

Love that screen! However, I don't love the turbo 4-banger, the CVT, the idea of a hybrid, the fact that it is running Sync 4, or that it is assembled in China. The price is hard to swallow, but that's probably par for the course in the luxury segment. The full-width screen looks amazing, in that it's useful without being distracting, while also being able to be turned off by those that don't want the extra clutter. I question if the maps are large enough when displayed to be as useful as vehicles with larger screens to display them. With Ford moving to the Android Automotive/Google platform, I wonder if this implementation will be orphaned software-wise. All that screen real estate will undoubtedly go through some development pains, and I'd be concerned about Ford giving up on it before those wrinkles are ironed out. Seeing that screen implementation makes me think Ford should have used it in the Mustang Mach-E. Since you had a Mach-E, what do you think? I disagree with you being happy that it's not available as an EV. They should have offered it as a full EV, perhaps in addition to a hybrid, and let the market decide. A four-cylinder in this size vehicle is underpowered, so the hybrid is a necessity to get it going decently, but now you have the complexity and maintenance of both an EV and ICE powertrain. Too much work, but I guess not an issue for those that only lease vehicles. Hopefully the platform can take a full EV powertrain in a few years when this hybrid fad wears out. It just seems wrong to buy a car from an American company and have it shipped from Asia. How in the world can that be cheaper than making it here? With the shipping back and forth of parts and the finished product, I can only imagine what the carbon footprint is, which completely negates any benefit to be had from the better gas mileage. Can't wait to see what Ford can do when it fully embraces the future instead of holding on too tightly to the past!

At over $70k for a 4-cylinder hybrid, why not just get an EV such as the Cadillac Lyriq? Lyriq offers a similar level of room and luxury while improving acceleration, NVH, and efficiency. I know EV is not for everyone, and its range cannot touch Nautilus' 600miles, but for those who can accept EV's deficiencies, you can easily save tens and thousands of $$$.
