I agree with this 100%. My family has bought RAV4s since 2013 for a reason, and it’s because of their reliability and simplicity. We’ve had nothing but great things to say about it. I have the LE AWD model with the 2.5L 4 cylinder non hybrid model, and it is very efficient. 27 mpg and 34 mpg on the highway is really good, and I’ve basically been able to get that 27 mpg city rating in my city driving all the time, sometimes even 28 mpg which is excellent (that’s my tank average by the way. Recently I haven’t been getting that since it’s really cold and my mom likes driving with a lead foot, so she lowered the tank average to 25 mpg 😅😅 if I’m driving, I can get 26-27 mpg in the city. Trip average I can do between 33-39 mpg in the city for longer distances and then even over 40 mpg on the highway. But I think the tank average is more accurate. I can easily do like between 370-430 miles on a warm day, and then on a cold day, maybe close to 365 miles on a full tank, which is excellent. The Rogue’s interior is nice, but for me, the Toyota is the clear winner. The LE AWD model I have is simple and not overwhelming which is what I like.

Anyone who knew me knew I was getting another Honda without question but this time a CRV. My husband and I test drove the CRV and just as the Accord… the seats were hard as concrete. Went on to test out the Rav 4 and the seats are very comfortable and we loved driving it. However, if you have a tall family with myself being the shortest at 5’9” ish there just isn’t enough room in the back. Especially for my husband and boys who are 6’2” and 6’3”. Decided on the Rogue and couldn’t be happier. We were going for comfort, gas mileage and AWD. It hit all the marks. The MTBF is 5 times higher in both cases or more in the case of the Tundra for people who are actually towing with it. The Rogue has one major advantage over the Rav4 and the CRV...AVAILABILITY! I live in a city of about 250,000 and the Toyota and Honda dealers have almost ZERO new inventory. The Toyota dealer is overflowing with with overpriced used cars and the Honda dealer has very few used cars. Neither dealership was very helpful either...get in line was the response from both dealers, nor did they have demonstrators to test drive. Of course, I went with the Rogue and I am VERY happy with it. I'm puzzled by KZbin reviewers giving negative reviews to the Rogue. I have found it to be an excellent vehicle. And did I mention that the Rogue is available and the Rav4 and CRV are not?
@TonyKimtheamusementparkfan2 жыл бұрын
Both are undeiniably perfect family SUVs. I have a 2021 RAV4 LE AWD, and I absolutely love it~ It's comfortable, it's very roomy, it's very easy to drive, and most importantly, that 2.5L 4 cylinder is even more efficient than the previous generation RAV4 that I had, which was a 2017 model, which was still very good in terms of fuel, but this 8-speed automatic drastically improves that compared to the 6-speed automatic in the previous generation. The Rogue is just as good as the RAV4, but that CVT transmission is something that may hinder my opinion of it, because I'm more used to a conventional automatic transmission, but can't deny that Nissan made great updates to this car and drives just as well. My dad drove the previous generation Rogue when we went on a trip to California as a rental car, and that car was really good (although I'm sad that someone smashed the passenger window and tried to steal something from that car).

Here is a great reason to buy a 2023 Nissan Rogue over a Rav4 Hybrid: 1) There are a TON of Rogues on the lots, whereas hybrid allocations are tiny. 2) In my city you can get a Rogue for a couple hundred bucks under MSRP, whereas Rav 4 hybrids (not the gas ones) are still considerably marked up. 3) The markups on the Rav4 hybrids destroys the extra economy 4) Real world if you drive chill you can get mid 30s without any effort, my highest so far is 39.2mpg on the '23 Rogue.

On the rogue 2023, you do not get the rear shelf compartments. Those are neat in that you can move them to a higher level or even take one and place it sideways to divide the two floor compartments. Or slide one in the top for a half shelf. You can place a large stroller on the shelf allowing full space below for other things and not having to take out the stroller every time to get to other things. Or you can place the stroller sidways in the half compartment. It is also great to keep groceries or items from flying around the cargo space. no reviews seem to show this. HOWEVER- it is NOT AVAILABLE on the 2023 rogue. Instead you get a cargo space like the Rav4 but you do get a floating console that is great to put your purse rather than on the seat or by passengers feet. I wish the 2023 had both because I love both features. and I love the toyota's passenger shelf.

There are plenty of Rogues in rental fleets right now, various trims, including fully loaded Platinums w/ Premium package as well. I rented a 2023 SV Midnight AWD last week, and I have to say, I liked the previous 2.5L N/A motor much more. While you notice extra hp, the power delivery, noise, and no noticeable mpg gains over the 2.5 don't make me to choose it over the rest of the segment, especially when it comes to MSRP level. At least this motor doesn't generate any vibrations. In the 1.5T department, when it comes to driving and powertrain feel, I would place it like this: Bronco Sport (3cyl) > CR-V (4cyl) > Rogue (3cyl) > Taos (4cyl) What would make me choose this over other entries in the segment however, are the availability on the dealer lots, and potential incentives. Thankfully I am not in the market to buy any SUV 😉 So between a pedestrian Rogue, and an agrarian Rav4 I would prefer a Tiguan or an Outback.

I own a 2021 XSE I purchased new 2 years ago. I have 16K miles on it now and have a lifetime mpg average of about 38.4, with mostly city driving. You noted that the Rogue allows you drop the cargo floor for a little more room, but that the RAV4 does not. In my XSE I can also lower the cargo floor several inches which came in really handy for a recent trip with lots of cargo. Not sure if that changed for MY2022 or did you just miss it?
@sawyermartin44342 жыл бұрын
He just missed it. It is still present in the current Rav4 & Rav4 Hybrids.

There is a hybrid version of it downunder. I just bought one. It may not be as frugal when it comes to petrol as the RAV but I prefer driving it over the RAV. It’s like driving a pure electric vehicle. So far I have been averaging 5.5L/100Km. Not that far off when compared to the RAV.

Toyota has the ugliest interior and least standard equipment of ANY crossover/suv in the market today. Nissan had the best interior between these two hands down. The only positive to the RAV4 is the long term reliability as Nissan’s VCV transmission isn’t known to last past 100k miles. If you only need a vehicle for 2-4 yrs within the warranty period then buy the Rogue because it’s easier to live with for ride quality, noise insulation, overall material quality and comfort. Obviously you won’t get 200k miles without having to rebuild or replace the cvt transmission of the Rogue.

ill preface this by telling you i own a 22 rav hybrid. fantastic car. to everyone ripping the rouge, don’t sleep on it. its a great vehicle and you used to be able to get really good deals on them. they have insanely good value. the interiors are much nicer than toyota. the only reason i went with toyota was overall reliability. i hate nissan CVTs. both vehicles are nice

Does the Rogue no longer have a sport mode? Noticed you did sport mode on the Toyota but not on the Nissan. Had it on my last Rogue and current Rogue sport

Your bias shows here. I do like your reviews but its evident that you are willing to ignore Toyota's short comings. Between these two, Nissan's interior and comfort is a class above Toyota's, yes you did mention its better, but really its a class above. There isnt really any comparison between these two. That infotainment for Toyota looks a solid 15 years old as well. Is the Rav4 a better SUV overall? Yes! But the Rogue doesnt compete on fuel economy or driving dynamics. it sells on its larger second row, classier interior and overall a more 2023 tech aligned SUV. And no, I dont own the Rogue.... but i test drove pretty much SUVs in this segment. Kind of a crime too to compare a Hybrid and a Turbo even though they are priced together. There are lots of vehicles that are priced together. Doesnt necessarily mean you would compare them!

Buy the Rav4 and you'll never look back. Hybrid is hard to find and more expensive to buy, so if you're patient and have the budget: buy the hybrid. Otherwise the regular gas engine will be more than adequate . I used to work at toyota as of a few months ago and before that I worked for Nissan, both in the service department seeing them come in for repairs and maintenance. The Toyota is the one you want if you want the best value and the least headaches. Nissans get very pricey once you're out of warranty, the craziest things go wrong. I would rather buy an Audi and own out of warranty, than any Nissan. Buy the Toyota.
