Parents bought one back in 2021, they actually went in for a palisade but since there were no standalone dealers at the time the GV80 was there and they fell in love with it. It was their first luxury car and now they’re looking to replace it with a refreshed version as their retirement car. At the time they paid around 62k for an Advanced 2.5T. It’s been very reliable and still gets looks and comments on it all the time.

Price on this Prestige trim is a bit silly. It costs the exact same as a similarly equipped X5 and unlike the X5 the front passenger seat doesnt offer massage, and there’s no 4 zone climate control… 0-60 and towing are also worse than the X5. Really needs to be a couple grand cheaper than a similarly spec’d X5 to sway buyers from a legacy brand like BMW. Great warranty though.

The second row does have its own separate climate zone, as well as power reclining heated & ventilated second row seats & power second row sunshades which are features the X5 doesn't offer. You can't recline the second row seats at all in the current X5 manually or with electric power, you can't get ventilated second row seats unless in the X5, & you can only get manual side window shades

The now offer wireless carplay and android auto. Even some older models up to 5+ years will get the wireless update. Something specific to the newer models though is dual screen apple carplay and android auto. You can have two different maps running (one gauge cluster one center!)

Genesis could have just been lazy and badge engineered Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sportage, building it on the same FWD based platform, but they didnt. They took it a few steps further, and made a vehicle on it's own dedicated RWD platform, with its own dedicated engines and features. There is no Hyundai or Kia equivalent to the GV80, and I feel like thats a big part of what luxury is about, putting in the effort to set the vehicle apart.

@ I have the tanzanite blue with the M Sport and M Sport Pro packages, and black wheels, so the only chrome on the car is the badging. Funny, about the only things I don’t have are the air suspension, the 4-zone and the messaging seats. I must have missed them when I ordered or they were not available at the time. My 2024 stickered at about $86k. The best thing about the car is the engine. I have taken hours-long interstate road trips where I was a bit limited in speed, and averaged 30 MPG. For a car that performs like this, that is just nuts. Just buy it.

BMW cost out of warranty is a little scary, which is why this GV80 peaked my interest. If you find a CPO one it still maintains the 10 year 100k powertrain warranty. Also interested in the new 2025 Explorer Platinum. That costs $62k right out the gate, so could potentially get a 1-2 year old explorer vs a 3-4 year old X5 for the same price in a couple years.

@@azuezx619 huh? People who rely on dealers after buying a car are just stupid. Now that isn't to say Genesis has no room for improvement. In fact that's what they suck at the most. Anyways find a quality private mechanic. Don't care if it's a Kia or Porsche. Dealerships are 9/10 times sketchy and the technicians are even more questionable. My maintainence and repair rates at my private mechanic for any of the cars I've owned have been half the price or so. Best part is he's super quick with it and I know my car won't be scratched or abused when it's with him. Plus he gives me a receipt on what he did so that I can always have it as proof in case of warranty claims. People who care so much about the dealerships always make me chuckle. Again Genesis most definitely has to improve their dealership network and experience but I guess it never mattered to me. Btw the best perk of my mechanic is he also tunes cars so sometimes he'll let me drive/ride in insane cars. Most recently a 800whp M8 which was beautiful. In that isle of man green color or whatever

Yeah……..$81K is too much for this. Yes some of the fit and finish in the GV80 look great…….But the large horizontal screens are a gimmick that all the car manufacturers are glooming onto. A lot of people crush the Acura MDX Type S for not being sporty enough for the “Type S” designation but it is faster than the GV80 0-60 with a smaller engine due to the lighter weight and 10 speed transmission with quick shifts. The Type S also offers better handling with the SH-AWD and and air ride suspension all for $6-7K less than this GV80. Yes the Type S uses a lot of black plastic in the interior but then again so do the Germans like Audi and even Bentley and Ranger Rover use black plastic in models that are well into $100K price range or more. Overall I’ll give the GV80 the interior styling points but even with the black plastic the Type S has a nice looking cabin. I just don’t see the GV80 being worth $80K. Wouldn’t choose it over the Type S or BMW X5.

My dad asked me about the GV80 before getting his X5 and I told him it’s a good car but the X5 is better, the tech and performance of the X5 is hard to beat in the segment, additionally newer X5s with the B58 can be reliable for 80k-100k miles with proper care, I will admit the X5 gets pricy with options but the GV80 isn’t much better, for the MDX I prefer the regular one to the Type-S as my expectation from Acura is reliability and practicality not so much performance (plus a MDX Type-S won’t perform as good as a X5 even if the X5 is a base), the upgraded brakes, suspension, and exhaust on X5s with the M Sport and M Sport Pro packages also make the X5 almost as sporty as a base Porsche Cayenne for less money while having better tech/features, an X5 with every option is the segment leader imo but I understand that it doesn’t have as much space compared to certain competitors

@ The Type S was designed to offer a little of everything……..With perhaps not one particularly standout feature but the sum of all the parts creating a versatile vehicle. None of the vehicles including the X5 offer the sportiness and utility with the touch of luxury that the Type S offers. In fact the handling of the Type S is very close to the X5. I mean it’s not like Acura couldn’t build an SUV that competes directly with the X5M and other “performance” SUVs. The 2020 MDX with the sport hybrid AWD with the electric motors using the same technology as the NSX was a start. The Type S with electric motors and a twin turbo 3.5 V6 would likely surpass the X5M in terms of power and performance. But would not be a volume seller and likely cost close to or surpassing $90K. The prohibitive cost for Acura just isn’t there although to me with the void left by the discontinued NSX it would have been the perfect opportunity to make a “Super Type S”. I guess the ZDX was supposed to fit that bill but even with the 500 horsepower it generates it still isn’t a real performance SUV in the vein of the Germans.

There is no 🇩🇪 suv that comes close to the GV80 interior quality, features ,and value for money. No one gives you the warranty and free service for 100k km. Yes it's a pig on gas, but money wise, it will be 500$ more per year compared to X5. That's like 1 service for BMW.

Does the passenger get massage seat yet? Or are the Koreans still that out of touch?.. Why on earth would the driver seat only have massage? Ridiculous and a literal deal breaker. My wife and I don't even consider Genesis when car shopping for this sole reason.

It looks great but let face it non of Bentley, RR buyers will be interested in some brand without well established heritage so they only can drag customers which are to poor to buy BMW ,MB, and they try to play a ball in front of friends, girlfriends so they buy that not because its "cheap " brand which they can afford..

😂 Just had a ‘23 GV80 with the 2.4T for a rental. 27,000 miles and it was a painted turd. Every time I see a person with one of these, I know they f’d up.
