Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! We're kicking off the last week of October with a video comparing two of the most capable midsize trucks on the market! Which one would you choose and why? We also hope to get a hold of the new Ford Ranger Raptor for a week later this year, so stay tuned!

Tacoma for me, I prefer the looks and the powertrain more. Both are awesome trucks tho, can’t really go wrong with either
Toyota is having more than some issues. They are having suspensions blow out, transmissions blow out, drive shafts, same thing. And the motor will be next. Same thing with tundra. I personally know people who are on their 3rd tundra after having each motor grenade within 500km. Toyota has fallen. Badly.

Like *most* Fords, the Ranger Raptor wouldn’t even be mentioned if they didn’t throw the V6 in it to compete with 4-cylinder engines. Just clarifying both trucks have part time 4WD. If there is a selection on the selector to operate in 2WD, then it's not full time 4WD. The GMC has 2 high, 4 high, 4 low and auto. The Toyota has 2 high, 4 high, 4 low but no automatic mode. These are essentially the same options minus an automatic option on the Toyota. NEITHER ONE ARE FULL TIME 4WD. Full time 4WD systems have 4 high, 4 low and some have auto but no 2WD options. GM has been using this same PART TIME operation since the 90's, none of them were ever considered "full time 4wd"
@curtshelp61702 ай бұрын
If I were willing to pay $65K for a midsize truck of these I'd go with the GMC. Lifting, adding 35s and a front locker to the Toy would cost quite a lot and the hybrid system is unproven, even if Toyota is the hybrid king. They were the reliability king too but.... Reliability doesn't impact my mind much, I bought a used Gladiator Rubicon launch addition already customized that has been flawless outside of the ARB LYNX air suspension controller.

@@YerBoyTroyNobody cares that you’re out of touch with reality and allow brand perceptions to determine your purchase. You’d be one of the fools in a brand new Toyota needing a new engine replacement and scratching your head trying to figure out what’s happened. That’s YOUR problem.
@YerBoyTroy2 ай бұрын
@@G-Rated Out of touch with reality eh? You ever wonder how a brand develops a reputation? It doesn't happen overnight. You can call me a Toyota fanboy all you want. But just remember who filed for chapter 11 back in 09 and who's had to axe a few of their iconic cars recently so they can restructure their portfolio and bolster for the future. I'll stick with the OEM who has their shit together. The irony is Toyota will probably have their engine failures sorted before GM figures out how to stop their aging v8's from throwing lifters 😂😂
@G-Rated2 ай бұрын
@@YerBoyTroy Exactly, reputation takes time to be built. Your perception of Toyota is based on their *old* reputation for reliability one that’s no longer the case. It’s hilarious how you mention lifters failing in *gm* V8s right after mentioning *gm’s* bailout from 2008 (which they paid back early) and bankruptcy from decades ago meanwhile Toyota is the OEM that’s actively replacing brand new engines in 2023 and 2024 model year products because they can’t fix them lol. yes you’re out of touch with reality, CLEARLY. *gm’s* lifter issue doesn’t even affect all V8s and the ones that were affected were addressed via a 45 min job at the dealership. No need to order a new 6.2L motor and be temporarily out of a truck. At least you TRIED, you certainly are the typical Toyota fanboy.
@YerBoyTroy2 ай бұрын
@G-Rated Deploying a new technology to market is always going to have it's growing pains, no OEM is going to account for every single thing that can go wrong until enough units have made it into the field where they are properly stress tested across multitudes of environments. Meanwhile GM out here has gone almost 2 decades now with AFM/Dfm and you still hear about chewed up lifters to this day, albeit to a lesser extent for the last model year, but who knows these units have not hit that mileage yet. The real joke is GM knows this is a design issue (even though they will claim supplier issue, despite issue spanning multiple revisions of the parts in question) and in alot of cases wouldn't warranty trucks outside of the warranty period. GM instilled zero confidence in owners by trying to not take responsibility for a badly designed feature and deflecting the cause to their suppliers. You think people are skeptical without reason on GM reliability when shit like that has been spanning the better part of the last 20 years? Regardless as to whether Toyota launches a new platform that inevitably has its issues, they get it fixed and then they refine within good time. Toyota has launched and nearly perfected 2 generations of v8's in the tundra since 2007 (when AFM first introduced) despite the plethora of issues both generations had on deployment. Meanwhile GM still has an unresolved Class action with said lifters. Doesn't take a Toyota fanboy to spell out GM is substandard when it comes to quality. But hey who cares, do what you gotta do to get your big ol' truck v8

Toyota quality isn’t what it used to be, but you like to continue the myth. GM needs to fix the MPG’s as most of the 2.7T HP is needed to get the heavy beast moving. Good thing you’re a short guy in the Tacoma. It’s disappointing that after 22 years on the old model Toyota made the new one almost as tight inside. Front seats are passable but the rear is embarrassingly small. Those seats look like 18 wheeler BarcaLoungers. All that plumbing behind the seats further reduces rear seat space. Again, good thing you’re shorter as a 6’4” driver is near the headliner and a bit seasick from the bouncy seats that don’t really cushion the impacts from the locked down suspension they just sway to and fro and make you regret the spicy tacos from lunch. I know the pandemic added $8-10K to every vehicle, but $65K and $67K is ridiculous even for these loaded models.

Seen them both and idk how to explain it but the Toyota looks cheap. Which isn’t new for Toyota but without the proven reliability I don’t see the draw at the same price as a bison or a at4x aev edition.

All I know is I trust Toyota more than GMC engines, tech, and all build technology. GMC may have changed, but they used to be designed to bring the company maintenance revenue after the warranty expired.
