I'm confused...........the #3 like is the elegantly handsome exterior and interior lines, but the #5 dislike is the " much too conservative" overall design?

Have you seen the Euro Passat? Light years ahead.
@AkioWasRight7 жыл бұрын
The Euro Passat and NMS Passat aren't even really comparable, they're in different categories of vehicle. The European version is basically a smaller premium car and can be configured to over US$70,000. I should hope it's light-years ahead of the North American version., it costs more than a well equipped Audi A4 in the US by quite a bit.
@SDav217 жыл бұрын
emdec55 The Euro Passat isn't small by any standard. It's interior is extremely spacious. And the price thing is relative. Cars are so cheap in the US. Elsewhere, the Euro Passat is always cheaper than the equivalent 3 series, C Class or A4. That is why there is no point in getting an A4 when one can just get a Passat.
@jrrand73197 жыл бұрын
+SDav21 LoL, you don't know anything about American standards. The NA Passat is more than 105mm longer overall than the EU version, has more interior volume as well, and that is only considered "mid-size" to them. Also, just because a car is cheaper doesn't mean their wouldn't be overlap. The EU was, in fact, sold in the US, and it failed because too expensive compared to the competition.
@johnavelisjr.91786 жыл бұрын
They are two different cars. The NMS Passat (US version) is very different, made to sell at a lower price in US market. The B7 Passat sells in Europe, would sell for well over $40K in US, and (like before, when they were the same) it wouldn't sell because of the price. Don't compare the two, they are not the same car. IMHO, VW should have named them differently, but they didn't ask me.

In this day and age, leather seating isn't the selling feature it use to be. A lot of people, myself included, don't want leather, and certain don't want to pay extra for it. There are alternative seat materials that are way better than leather, in my opinion. VW's stablemate, Porsche, added "sport tex" seating to their options list last year and it is now their nicest seating material, I think. Leather just isn't the end all be all anymore and it doesn't hold up over many years of use like synthetic materials do.
@billm476457 жыл бұрын
D LG I've had two Autobahn GTIs alongside other vehicles with leather (a few different SUvs). The latest is a 2015 with 27,000 miles. The vehicle still smells like a leather glove, and the seats look almost brand new vs my SUV that is 3 months older with 32,000 miles and supposedly "leather seats." that the interior has no new car smell anymore, and the seats look like they are on a port authority bus.

Figured you'd review this. It is way overlooked and a VW employee once told me the VR6 makes up less than 5% of Passat's sales in the USA. That was before the diesel was dropped, though.

Great Redline Top 5, Sofyan! The Passat seems like a very well styled vehicle in its class. The design appears to be very conservatively elegant in its looks. Like you mentioned in the video, this vehicle will definitely age very well as the years go on! I have not gotten the chance to review a Passat just yet, but based off of this quick sneak peak it seems like a pretty solid entry in its class! 👌🏽 I cannot wait until your Full Redline Review of the Passat. Keep up the great work! 👍🏽 -DriveAndBeDriven 🚘 "The Quest To Record The Best!" 📽

It's funny because American cars are becoming more like Euro cars, like the Malibu, Fusion, etc. Yet some German cars are becoming more like American cars like the Jetta, Passat, 3 Series, 5 Series, etc. Some brands are just losing their way
@billm476457 жыл бұрын
Brandon Friesen Agree. I've rented a slew of American sedans recently (I travel and rent often), and I thought maybe I'm getting older and so my tastes are changing. They are really good now. The new Impala is surprisingly good. Then my 2015 GTI was in for service, and they gave me a 2017 loaner Passat and I couldn't believe how they stripped out all the driving dynamics. With the exception of the motor and NVH, it reminded me of a 10 year old Camry. My friend has a two year old BMW 3 series M sport. The steering could have come out of a 15 year old Ford Taurus. The seats aren't that comfortable (too flat) and the interior is dated; most annoying feature is BMW does not have a sync button for a dual zone climate control. You have to turn each zone manually. What a joke!
@brandonfriesen53897 жыл бұрын
William Monto Ah yes that annoys me too about the dual zone climate in a 3 series. It's sucks because it's that way in the 2 and 4 series as well yet an X1, which is cheaper than most 3 and 4 series, has the sync feature, as does the rest of the BMW lineup. Its unnecessary. And the handling of the F30 3 series is way too wallowy. On a high performance 340 M performance edition with adaptive sport suspension, and 19" rims, it rides very stiff, yet it rolls like an old Cadillac in the corners

Mahin Ahmed bought it in January 2016 with 81k miles and a month after that I had to replace engine fan cause it wasn't keeping engine cool. I have issues with my aftermarket headlight ballasts and then other than it requiring 93 octane gas and maintence being on the expensive side nothing major. DSG is supposed to be serviced every 45k miles which runs you 300-400 and then at 100k the carbon needs to be cleaned off the engine which is almost 1000 dollars and then my front pads and lower control arm bushings need replaced. So right now I'm at about $2000 worth of maintence. I love the car even with its quirks. On the v6 the battery is in the trunk. I'm going to be buying a second car as my friend ruined my other car so I don't have to put as many miles on it. If you buy one try to find a euro car shop to get maintence done at cause vw dealership is very expensive

The fact that it isn't a good car. It drives sloppily and lifelessly and it isn't cheap. Volkswagen is in no position to be charging a premium after dieselgate. Really the only good thing is that it's roomy inside. It's such a rental car.
