@@qhorton6743 "Post-First Class"? I think First Class is the one where Fassbender and McAvoy together was the best part of the entire film. The other X-Men films after First Class would have a certain aspect better than the duo being together like the young and old versions of Charles meeting in Days of Future Past and Quicksilver in Apocalypse.

Awesome video. Fascinating list. We matched the #1 spot. That film was the first time that I cried over a fictional character that I had been a fan of, was happy and proud they nail his tone, ethics, behavior all while I was ready to say goodbye to him. It's one of those films, that I love sharing, recommending, introducing to people. One that makes me think about what kind of a father I'd like to aspire to be and reminds me, when I have dark moments, why I care, connect and love the X-Men. Plus it doesn't hurt to have Hugh, Dafne, Patrick in your cast, James Mangold directing, Michael Green co-writing and Marcos Beltrami doing your music. Preach Coy!

Loved the way you spoke about every one of these movies, my man. Even if there were parts I disagreed with personally, the way you were able to detail your experience with them made it very easy to view them from your perspective. In today's media, it's hard to come by folks who can talk about whatever subject it may be with personality AND nuance, and not have it sink into bias fodder or bland crowd-pleasing takes. Very cool to see a talented writer/speaker touch on topics I enjoy

The “fatigue” can also be synonymous with “greed” because to me, the rollout of films coming out at a rapid pace felt like cash grabs. When something is made with love, it shows and it makes you invested too. After watching X-Men 97, now I want to dive into the comics and get t-shirts and merch because I love it! And I loved the original series. I agree that X-Men First Class doesn’t get as much love as it should. I loved the relationship between young Charles Xavier and Erik. The acting is so good. Logan… man, it’s rightfully at #1 for sure. Hugh Jackman is an incredible, multi-talented man. He can sing, dance, do action sequences well, and his acting is top notch. I loved him in Prisoners also. He’s the definitive portrayal of Wolverine and as Logan, he just rips your heart out at that last moment. The entire cast was amazing and Laura was perfectly cast too. There wouldn’t be a sense of fatigue if studios didn’t rush films to be released when they’re not that good. When they’re great, we want more. And we’re willing to wait. Within reason lol

its incredible that deadpool not only broke the barrier of comic book movies being rated R in the xmen universe but also did it for the mcu which seemed impossible after disney purchased marvel. i truly hope deadpool 3 can lift back the hype that the mcu had before the pandemic as watching and loving xmen 97 only proves just how bright the mcu can be inthe future if they utilize the mutants properly but its going to be difficult as the mcu is so heavily based around the ironman avengers so shifting or balancing it with the xmen franchise is going to be extremely hard but deadpool 3 has the hype and chance to set things up properly

X-MEN (2000) is one of my favorite comic book movies ever and is so, so, *so* underrated simply because of its quaintness. I (hot take) like its Michael Kamen musical score better than the John Ottman themes that began in X2, Magneto is legitimately threatening and the world created is super realistic and heavy-feeling, the art direction is trailblazing and still remains in modern day X-Men content… it’s amazing.

I just rewatched most of the X-Men movies with my daughter, and my list wouldn't be too far off from yours. Definitely some shifts I'd make, but never too far off from where you put them. Also, Logan is damn near, plot point for plot point, The Last of Us (if it stopped after the Fall section). Even down to the characters they come across and things that happen (of course, minus the zombies). This isn't a negative. I love both. But I was blown away on the rewatch just how similar it really is.

Im glad New Mutants Is this high on the list, a lot of people go as far as to say ITS the worst, when it had crazy potential had it been R-Rated the way It was meant to be, and even as flawed as it is, there are other films who butchered a bunch of characters, while at least New Mutants treated their characters properly

I remember that fan casting in Wizard, loved that magazine. If I remember correctly they wanted pro wrestler Vader as Juggernaut and Glen Danzig from The Misfits as Wolverine because he is so short and angry all the time. I don’t remember the rest of the team but I remember that whoever they cast as Gambit would have been a great choice

Days of future past is in my top five of cbm movies but I understand what you’re saying. I just love that movie as a movie. Felt so ambitious and I loved it.

Man I just luv every words u said near the end! Those so-called comic book movie fatigue was never a damn thing, it's just the byproduct of some ppl overreacting to some flopped movies that happens to be in this genre bruh

You are the Man, Coy!! You always come with it regarding your knowledge and wisdom of comics and film! I remember that Wizard issue when I was a teen. Granted, most of the casting they had in there didn't happen, but getting Patrick Stewart from there was huge! Also, funny how the bottom of the list is a Wolverine movie and the top of the list is a Wolverine movie. Like Deadpool said, he is THE X-man!!

Yessss!!!! Just got done rewatching all of the X-Men movies. To me the three perfect trio of movies I love is 1) Deadpool 2) Logan 3) Deadpool 2. Although in my opinion Logan is THE BEST X-MEN MOVIE OUT OF ALL OF THESE and I heard Logan is separate of all X-Men continuity. But Logan is just so GOOOOOOOOD

I loved the original X-Men movies so much and didn't enjoy the cast for the newer ones as much (which I know I'm in the minority on), so I was happy to see the first two ranked as high as they were. That first one I rewatch all the time, it's one of my comfort movies. Agree on Logan and Deadpool being the top two spots as well. Those are some near perfect movies in general, not just comic book films.

Just started a rewatch of all the X-Men films for Deadpool 3. I stopped watching them after Apocalypse was terrible when that was released and fell off since then but '97 has reignited my love.
