It's interesting that you point out how movies like The Transporter played a role in Jason Statham landing a role in Fast & Furious, but I personally think there's another factor worth considering. While it's true that films like The Mechanic and The Transporter helped shape his career, I believe Tyrese Gibson played a significant role in getting Jason Statham into the Fast & Furious franchise. Specifically, I'm thinking of their work together in Death Race (2008). In that film, Tyrese played Machine Gun Joe, and Jason Statham portrayed Jensen Ames. Their chemistry in that movie could have helped Tyrese advocate for Statham's inclusion in Fast & Furious. I’m not saying that Jason's roles in action films didn't influence the casting, but it feels like Tyrese’s involvement might have been a key factor. If you haven't already, I highly recommend watching Death Race-it’s an underrated action film with great performances from both actors. It's just a theory, but I like to think that Tyrese had a bigger hand in bringing Jason on board than people may realize.

Jason Statham is the best action star we have now. Other than working with Sly Stallone on the Expendables series, he starred in 2 movies written by Stallone himself and based on novels. One is the upcoming 'A Working Man' (2025). The other is 2013's HOMEFRONT in which Statham leads a pretty good ensemble cast.

Great movie, I think it's a good thing, it being a European production. Looks different, feels different than a US-production, which I do enjoy, but not all the time. I enjoy the more "realistic" chases with less CGI than in the F&F series (especiallythe last few parts). Feels actually for me more thrilling - like in the amazing movie "Ronin". After Snatch and Lock, Stock....this really put Statham to superstardom. Even though mostly cast in similar roles, I enjoy what he's doing (like Status Quo and AC/DC ... always pretty similar, but that's what fans enjoy...and me as well). I also like that fact that Matt Schulze (also in The Fast and the Furious) is actually a good fighter here and a challenge, not just a big-mouth (he is, but not just that). The sequels are good fun as well, I always enjoyed the relationship between Frank Martin and Tarconi, which is further explored in the sequels.
