I love that you're coming in fresh as an audience, with no knowledge of the original source material, cause it's fascinating to see how a fresh mind, would view the "One Piece World" from Netflix from a "newbie" experience. As opposed to someone who HAS knowledge of it. This is gonna be fun watching you guys. I'll be refreshing the page hoping for the next one soon lol

Is it a perfect show? No. But the fact that I had a smile the entire first season speaks volumes. To see this world completely realised into live action is a small miracle. By all means, these drawings and the world Oda has created is *impossible* to create into live action, that's why animation works so well. That being said, this show does SUCH a good job translating it into this new medium. Every episode just screams love and attention. It's like a gift to all the fans. It's beautiful to see.

Oda specifically said that when he started One Piece, he felt like there was no point in making a comic if he was making something that could have just been reproduced in live-action. He actually went out of his way to make it as unreal and unadaptable at possible at first. It wasn't until he saw Xiaolin Soccer a few years after starting that he began to believe it might be possible.

Not an exact recreations but I think that’s a good thing, plus with how open the world of One piece is, there’s a lot of creative liberty to take compared to Cowboy Bebop. The pacing I was concerned with since the East Blue Arc is long for newcomers. But they established the main points well. Again I don’t mind the some of the changes they did, especially with the pacing of the story cause this was all backed by Oda, and thought they were good. Overall I think this was a really good live action and hope they make season 2 longer.

One Piece is my all time favorite manga & anime. This adaptation, just based on Ep 1, is amazing! There are changes that were noticeable immediately, yes, but those changes make absolute sense! The original author has a broader structure of the plot planned out, but he wrote the in-betweens mostly on the fly, chapter to chapter. Here they're taking advantage of the fact that it's a live-action adaptation: At the beginning, the author was quite experimental, & the story was told through the lens of Luffy, but over time the manga & it's anime adaptation became aware of it being a multi-cast story. Here, it's being telegraphed like that from the get-go. For example, Zoro's 1st scene. In the og material, he only refers to that interaction in retelling, there wasn't even a flashback to it. We had no reason to experience it, because the story is told through Luffy. We only see Zoro for the 1st time when Luffy sees him for the 1st time. Overall this adaptation is very good at planting early plot seeds, that weren't there in the og material at that time, so these kind of changes are actually in-canon. And yes, omg the stretching looks soo good! I'm like super-surprised O.O

This is probably the first live action manga/anime adaptation that isn't ashamed of it's source material. It feels like they didn't just make this because they could, but because they actually wanted to, and they wanted to do it right. The main cast have such great chemistry. Which is a credit to the manga for writing the characters this way in the first place. But it wouldn't have worked nearly as well if they didn't lean into these character the way that they have. Inaki Godoy as Luffy feels like one in a million casting.

Having finished the show, it's extremely accurate to the source material. It shuffles things around and it's not a 1:1 adaptation but it keeps all the important story beats, stays true to the characters and the all around vibe One Piece has which is just a lot of heart and sometimes extremely goofy. It's so in tune with the source material, Zoro fighting that Mr. 7 guy and being approached to join Baroque Works is just something that was mentioned in the manga/anime as exposition but here they actually show it which was awesome to see as a fan.

11:55 Fun fact: Luffy is Brazilian, Zoro is Japanese, and Nami is Swedish. The creator, Eiichiro Oda, said that is what their nationalities would be irl. 21:00 You should! You should most definitely watch the anime!!! You'll love it! Don't worry about the episode count because that's inconsequential. One Piece is literally about the journey and not the destination! So take your time and go at your own pace. 21:15 But read the manga first lol. 30:15 Another Fun Fact: Jeff Ward, who plays Buggy, played a major part in the last couple of seasons of Agents of Shield. 31:00 One Piece is at its best when it takes the time to stay in the moment of a scene in the manga and anime as well. I hope it's something that they learn to do for S2 because that plays an essential part in why One Piece is awesome! Taking the time and not speed-rushing everything is key because you felt like you were getting whiplash due to all the jumping around.

As a fan of the anime and manga, watching you guys go in completely blind and react to everything from a completely fresh, un-spoiled perspective was such a delight. Loved the reactions to Luffy's powers and Zoro's skills, and was so happy to see you warming to the characters right away. One Piece is a phenomenal series, but it can be difficult to sell people on it because of its length, and because the artwork and general vibes can feel a little corny at first, and it takes a little longer in the anime/manga for the plot to really get moving. I really hope the live action can provide a good alternative to introduce people to the world and the characters. Really looking forward to following the rest of this reaction series!

I'm so old that I've read the manga from early 2000 through 2010 and this show just reignited my love for it again! This is the lil pirate with a DREAM who I fell in love with! So many laughs and cries with these characters! I love watching people discovering this world with an accessible adaptation! If a world deserves it, it's this!

It's a good adaptation, they did an impressive job. I really hope that people who have never watched the anime or read it the manga, decide, after finishing the series, to give the story an opportunity. Yes, it's long, and you need to give it time and have discipline, but the storytelling of Oda, his amazing characters and worldbuiling are worth it.

I remember being 15 and dreaming about a One piece live action. I remember people being sceptical when it was announced 5 years ago. I'm 23 now and just finished watching it and still can't believe it exists. The Live Action adaptation of a seemingly unadaptable Anime is here and it's magnificent ❤️ Can't wait for season 2! I was waiting for you to react to it's trailer. I'm really happy that you are reacting to it Greg 😁 I hope you'll enjoy it! Love from India 🇮🇳

I'll tell you what.. remember the time during Avengers Infinity War and Endgame.. remember how everyone had their own theory of how it's gonna end.. One Piece is the only thing that gives me that vibe now.. One Piece is the only thing where there are so many mysteries, so many unanswered questions and so many fan theories.

I'm so happy that Netflix has finally made a good adoptation. It's a very sweet and perfect package for new fans who are daunted by the length of One Piece. This helps them fall in love with the world and characters bringing more fans in.

I've never watch One Piece, just certain scenes or heard some stuff about the anime and I never was fully interested in watching the anime since more than 1,000 episodes, but watching this live action has made me like it a lot and after I finish it, I plan on watching the anime to understand the references and understand the hype about it. Ps: I think the cast is doing great. I think one of the reasons this live adaptation is working and everyone is enjoying it so much is because Eiichiro Oda (Creator of the Anime) was heavily invested in this. Other live anime adaptations tend to deviate from the creator's vision and I think that's why those have failed.

I was completely sold when they nailed the feeling of the final story arc of this season. It made me tear up just like in the anime and after that I was all in for the long haul. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌out.

I’ve never experienced and or cared to understand what anime/manga was all about. Couldn’t have cared less my whole life… One Piece live action concretely changed that! It carries such an infectious positive and hopeful vibe with its themes and character work, and the world building is so freaking unique and fresh. Glad I hopped on this bandwagon 💯

One Piece is a big deal it is basically the Lord of the Rings of the Anime/Manga franchise. One Piece is the best selling Manga of all time and outsold every comic franchise like Spider-Man and Batman. One Piece is only behind Superman. The best things about One Piece it has so much, it has one of the best world building stories ever told, that's why I said Lord of the Rings of Anime, the characters are great, the adventures, the unsolved mysteries, it's both really fun and goofy while having really emotional impactful moments, this world is so unique with different island and cultures. Every character is important, So far they are staying true to the source material when it comes to the vibes and the interactions of the characters (chemistry), the islands and the sets. They did some interesting changes where I'm not sure how I feel about it. Some of the cast members and the showrunner Matt Owens are massive One Piece fans they are doing the best they can, the cast interactions are so precious, they have so much fun, Matt Owens have joined podcast and interacted with One Piece KZbinrs he is a big Anime fan. The creator of One Piece named Eiichiro Oda is also involved to make sure things are going smoothly and he is able to decide yes or no he has the final say, which is so good. I really recommend you guys should watch the anime or read the Manga of One Piece in the future when you feel ready to yes I understand so many episodes, I feel like you guys would like One Piece like the world the characters and the mysteries.
