exactly. that's why I feel it's important to stay humble about ourselves and not pat on our backs too much etc. yes, in some aspects a lot of great social progress has been achieved in many countries (and even globally). but let's not also pretend that some things are even worse than 100 years ago (e.g. a looming climate disaster)

I love how this video pokes fun at harmful '50s culture while reveling in the aesthetic. Pure genius! EDIT: 5 years, 6.6k likes, and a whole lot of arguing later...Yes, I missed the part of the video that says "1962" before I made this comment. It's still basically the '50s: same era, same aesthetic, same culture, same point I was making. Updated to please the pedants, here's how it would have been written: "I love how this video pokes fun at harmful aspects of late '50s, early '60s U.S. culture while reveling in the aesthetic. Pure genius!" By the way, those harmful aspects I'm referring to are: sexism, racism and racial segregation, selling cigarettes to kids, and homophobia. You know, things that most reasonable people could agree are bad, but apparently not most KZbin commenters, lol!

Go for it! Righteous attitude, righteous playing, great videos. (And I grew up in the '50s - it was that stratified, and both that good and that bad. We had our moments, but we had our other moments. The music and the cars were the best parts.) Whoever the brains behind this band is or are deserve massive props - and if it's the band themselves, even better!

I think no reasonable person would argue that "everything was bad about the 50's". like, *especially* compared to the decade that preceeded it. (and the same can be said for all of the past (and will be said about today). like, a lot of people LOVE the culture of the 80's. but part of that was also the Aids scare and the rampant homophobia that went along with that. doesn't mean that, for example, you can't or shouldn't enjoy "Ghostbusters")

Hey now, I've just stumbled across this great track... I'm an aging old-Welsh-rocker-type-farty-bloke-person and I'm happy to see that music in very good hands. I've also just listened to your cover of Fox on the Run - two words; brilliant :-)

This video does an incredible job of both using musical inspiration from Surf rocks while also addressing the issues that existed at the time as to not glorify the era or music scene of the time.

I can’t believe Lydia was, like, only 15 here! I had no idea this band was so young! They all definitely all seem to have an old soul, wise beyond their years kind of vibe.
