I love how the Iron Hands Legion have a striking resemblance to a weapon and a calibration process of a machine as they had to be reforge and remake countless times in order to make them more better. And also some of their leader still remember the true wish of Ferrus.

There was so much lore here that I didn't even know existed for this legion. I always just thought of them as boring cyborgs but the doctrine wars was interesting. However you did leave out one interesting fact about the fractured survivors of Istvaan. They rebuilt a robotic version of Ferrus Manus using his beheaded body and tried to use it to unify the remnants of the massacre. Vulkan was disgusted when he saw it and smashed it to pieces.

Love the Iron Hands them and the Iron Warriors don't get enough love in the lore of 40K. The White Scars got alot of love in the Heresy and Seige series as did the Blood Angels and Imperial Fists. Iron Warriors, Emperor's Children, Thousand Sons, DeathGuard all got love as well.for the traitors.

The astartes creation of the iron hands need to be changed so that instead of trying to make their physical bodies stronger, they just bioengineer stronger capacity for augments. Make their nervous system stronger and have multiple spinal and nerve redundancies. Give them a redundant backup decentralized brain. Imagine magdumping a space marine head, watching them leak out half of their brain onto the floor. Then the nearly headles marine points it gun at your general direction and proceeds to shoot back at you using the sights of his bolter. The ironhands have he potential to be the most transhuman dread inducing chapter. Even daemons would look at them in fear and confusion.

Missed opportunity here. The oldest loyalist astartes should be an iron hands who was rebuilt continuously over the millennia who remembers that ferrus eventually wanted to undo the iron around his legion's heart. Perhaps he even was a confidante of ferrus's who can recall the exact Convo and such. It would be interesting. Would be a cool way to bring back the spirit of ferrus without retconning his death.

0:50 The Iron Gands legion got a lot of its early members from Old Albia (future Albania in 40k) just like the Early Death Gaurd (Modern day Plague Marines) legion. Old Albis must have had some great warriors. Also the Ironhands are basically cyborg mechanicus space maribes that try to control their emotions and be more like machines kinda. They have the gest relationship with the mexhanicus out of all the Space Marines.

There also interesting part that Iron Hands really undergone noticeable and important change, which went totally overlooked because they aren’t very popular and most books featuring them are, well, range from mediocre to shitty ones. Especially “Gorgon” - probably in top 10/20 of worst WH books ever. Mentioned change happened because of whole mess with Sapphire King and Iron Father Kristos, which also fuelled inner “fight” with Admechs for own, legion, authenticity. And one may safely say that XX definitely took turn to better, what is quite unique thing for 40k

Might as well put that cybernetic limbs underneath ceramite plating, to protect mechanical parts from dust, heat, cold, physical damage, to protect wiring from not getting ripped off against enemies, tank switches, sudden movement.. I get it, showing off your limbs tells everyone you are Iron Hand, but your tech marine will really have a lot more work to do.. Having unexposed cyber limbs is like driving a car without car body, like when robocop drove that pink car were just engine was there..

Why would you replace a part of your body with a piece of equipment with hundreds of moving parts that could be easily damaged thus rendering the whole thing useless if even one small internal part that was critical to its function gets fucked up? Most of their art has their robot parts unarmored. Say a piece of shrapnel hits the hydraulic of their arm and all of a sudden it's stuck in a 45° and they have to elbow the green skins to death. Or if they fight on a desert planet, and sand starts gumming up the ball bearings in their codpiece and they have to disassemble the whole thing to lubricate it before putting it back together. Not to mention fucking MAGNETS!!! Or EMP's frying the electronic parts of their brains and suddenly they can't remember the days of the week, and start singing show tunes. Just seems like more trouble than it's worth...

Maybe it's because they both have iron in their names but I find the Iron Hands and Iron Warriors pretty similar, just being loyalists and traitorous versions of each other. They really should have used Steel for one of them. Steel Warriors or Warriors of Steel sounds pretty good.
