"The often quoted "Love your enemies" reads "diligite inimicos vestros," and not diligite hostes vestros. No mention is made of the political enemy. Never in the thousand-year struggle between Christians and Moslems did it occur to a Christian to surrender rather than defend Europe out of love towards the Saracens or Turks. The enemy in the political sense need not be hated personally, and in the private sphere only does it make sense to love one's enemy, i.e., one's adversary... It certainly does not mean that one should love and support the enemies of one's own people." -- Carl Schmitt - The Concept of the Political

This is such an excellent message brother Webbon. I am so thankful for your faithfulness in teaching God's truth that not only helps those in your own church, but also the body of Christ as a whole, for those who have ears to hear.

Thank you Joel - for being the only Pastor in America - that advocates for the authority of the Husband / Father in the family. Nearly every Pastor in America sides with the wife (out of their cowardice) - to submit to every whim of emotions and feelings of the wife - and attack the husband/father (and now thanks to Doug Wilson - can also claim her husband is ‘Nabal’ - to his church’s leadership). That’s why most men hate church today.

The reason why theologians distinguished public vs private enemies is because the could actually read Greek and the word used in the sermon on the mount means private enemies. Also in the Gospel of Mark, turn the other cheek means take the lesser insult since a back handed slap (on our right cheek) is more/less insulting than a forehanded slap (on our left cheek).

Despite not being reformed, but non-denominational, I feel free to follow whomever the Holy Spirit leads me too, and right now, with Mike Heiser and Chuck Missler gone, He's led me to you. You are my idea of what a Pastor should be; strong, courageous and a preacher of God's word despite whose feelings the truth might hurt. That's how I viewed all of the OT Prophets straight thru to the NT; Jesus (God), John the Baptist and the Apostles.

If you look, JW has his comments turned off and he blocks anyone who disagrees. He does not care what others think. He is right in his mind. I would just kinda do same. There is no reconciliation on his or Tobias part. God is your defender. I would just let H 8:33 im work and disapline them. You have explained you do not have to continue. It's on them. Matthew Henry: “National Justice prevents National Judgement.”
@brendangolledge8312Ай бұрын
You cleared something up for me that had been bothering me for a long time. I regarded that passage as basically being advocating for suicidal altruism. It seemed to me to basically say that the world ought to be controlled by evil men who are willing to use force, because good men ought not to use force. It also seemed to me to be inconsistent with the historical behavior of Christians. But your explanation of this passage answers all my questions in a reasonable way. The atonement theory you discuss afterwards sounds to me like a father tells his son, "You deserve to be beaten," and then the father goes and beats himself instead. It is strange to me.

When your messages begin to focus on you and vindicating you , rather than lifting up and exalting Christ - you have crossed a dangerous line …
@asherfong6906Ай бұрын
So that means churches can’t have a sermon about corona virus / lockdowns because it doesn’t explicitly lift up and exalt Christ by your standard. In fact any topic discussing anything happening in the outside world like elections would be crossing a dangerous line? What about sections of the Bible that don’t include a direct message of uplifting Jesus?
@RealllyREALLYReformed76Ай бұрын
Good thing that's not happening then, huh. And in case you didn't know, when you preach the truth according to God's word, you actually are exalting Christ.
