Roy's comment probably is a bit harsh but I wouldn't say he's wrong. Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world but off the ball he looks awful at times. He's just one of those strikers that heavily relies on service which is fine because his finishing is amazing.

You can call it a soft penalty or incorrect decision, but I don't understand why so many people seem to think it should've been a West Ham free kick. For me, it's a really soft penalty which would've been far more convincing had Gordon got a touch on the ball - Gordon's really good at buying them and Philips should've been more aware of what's around him in the box, which is something a lot of people haven't touched on.

You can shield the ball if you have control over it. That's why when you shield the ball without having control, it is deemed obstruction. This incident here was a textbook definition of obstruction. Without having possession or control of the ball, Gordon used his foot to impede Phillips from playing the ball. I really am shocked that Shearer thinks that was a penalty. Even the first one was questionable.

TBF with regards to Anthony Gordon and the penalties, I do agree with those who criticize the play as not being in the spirit of the game, HOWEVER you see players do effectively the same thing to win fouls elsewhere on the pitch and they're called fouls. For 90' we watch players step between the ball and the defender, making no play on the ball, and winning a foul. So by the way the rule is exercised, I can see why the penalties were called.
