I Have an Autoimmune Disease. How You Can Help.

After spending a week in the hospital last month, I got diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease: a form of vasculitis called Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), formerly Wegener's disease. Now begins the long journey toward remission.

Welcome to the club no one wanted to join. I've had GPA for 15 years, but was not diagnosed until 2010; I was a medical mystery for 5 years. I was also uninsured when I first got sick. Hang in there! There is great support out there.
