Looks absolutely fabulous. My husband and I just finished a 24 x 24 cabin and 16 x 20 timber frame workshop. We are 67 and 60 respectively. We also cut the timber and milled the lumber from the property. It took 2 years start to finish just us. Very tiring but very rewarding.

Absolutely love the build! What screens did you use at 8:01 to fix the battens to the steel? I presume you didn’t screw into wood behind the panel so they just sit in the metal, right? Thanks for the good ideas you are giving 🤗

Inspired I'm building a 6x4.5m equivalent of this. Getting professionals to do the timber frame but doing the rest DIY. One thing I can't work out despite watching all vids many times is you seem to start your panels flush with the 25mm battern at chicken end so did you have a 25mm gap at the house end where the 6x1m panels join your ~5.25x1m side panels? Was it just a case of foaming that?

Nice job, micro panels work better on their sides. But next time would you use the roof panels on the side and you are have the up cryls to fix to so no need for extra battens?

Absolutely brilliant recap. You have inspired me to go out there and build a garden room/summer house (just a lot smaller). Two questions tho, would you use the insulated metal panels on such building? & Would I need vapour barrier? Many thanks look forward to future videos.

I used that Floorsaver 2 part epoxy on my current garage, its good value and does the job but compared to the Jotafloor I used on a previous garage it is significantly more susceptible to scratching like you've noticed, so if doing it again I'd revert back to Jotafloor even though it's twice the price. It's also worth mixing in a handful of kiln sand to make it a bit less slippery if your feet are wet and it doesn't really affect the visual finish

REgarding placing spacers to slide drywall sheets, this solves the problem of drywall gaps, but what about the insulation panels? They are rigidly attached to the frame, so if the frame moves as it dries, wouldn't that create gaps at the panel joints?

Yep, I was thinking just that. Also wondering about the air tightness in general with that battening out of the panels. I know it's only a work shop, but if you are going to all the expense and trouble of using highly insulating panels, air gaps will short circuit their effectiveness considerably.....which then makes me wonder about how best to healthily ventilate such a space.....

Great job! Whilst I learnt scribe-rule here in the UK, I do rather like the semi 'square-rule' approach you're using here with timbers planed so square there's no need to do the stepped reductions. I don't trust my planing to be that accurate! I am guessing there is some kind of ridge panel overlying the two halves of the roof? I saw you had gunned expanding foam into the gap but unsure if the final weatherproofing was captured. I do like the new Kingspan product; it's a real advance over the old chipboard-foam sandwich they used to do.

thanks for posting all your videos, I have been pondering on doing this exact thing for years, and now after seeing your videos i am 100% this is the way to go, just one question, where you cut back the roof panels 150mm to let in the wall panels, how did you fix the roof panel to the side panels? or did the roof fixings go through to the timber instead?

Just timber with a bead of foam between the two panels to seal.

Were the outside framing battens to secure the insulated sheets only installed horizontally top and bottom to leave the vertical gap as free space?

Some of the posts had vertical battens especially on corners however the sheets were only really fixed at top and bottom along the main parts of the walls.

First fix nail gun or second fix and what nails? I know stainless steel but ring shank, clipped etc? I was told second fix 50mm but I can’t see these lasting without the wood pulling out?

50mm stainless ring shank 3mm so same as first fix.

We will be using quite a bit of timber framing in the new house build and also inside the stone barn workshop. Not sure which insulation method we will use yet but it will be the same principal of keeping it all outside the frame. 👍

U built it timber frame why? if u r going to cover it up, u could have built out of 2x6's instead of timber frame or for that matter, u could build a 3d concrete house and it would have been way faster finished for what takes u 23 minutes would be more like 3 minutes. i know u have to make the show somewhat long or no-body will watch your handy work
