With regard to the placement of the down pipe. Did you consider a gutter corner to take it round the side then place the down pipe fitting more directly into the drain?

Instead of pre-drilling, when I was doing the trim on my shed roof I just used a spike and a hammer to make a small indentation the screw would sit in. And yes, I got the outside power socket with a switch inside too. :)

Just had a laugh with my other 1/2 and wanted to share it with you guys. In North Eastern Pennsylvania, US. We're almost entirely free of pandemic restrictions, but I needed yeast to bake some bread. (Mine was expired) So I ordered a grocery delivery. :-( Mike had driven to pick up an engine, 14 hours each way, and was due home so I didn't want to stop working long enough to shop. (Multiple excuses...) Moral of the story is that I try to do things myself, honestly! But for the 4th time I paid to have someone do my shopping. Oops. IYC DIY, except time consuming, menial tasks? Haha.

Nice workshop. Couldn't the gutter come round the corner so the downpipe is in the right place? Can't work out the corner detail of the trim from the vid.

Outbuilding, near boundary hence the 2.5m ridge.

@@TheRestorationCouple Great build. I'm drawing up my own building and have been wondering what a 2.5M high pitched roof would look like so this is very helpful. Do you remember what the wall height was / rise of the pitch. I'm thinking about 2100mm walls, 400mm pitch, is that what you went with? Cheers. Mike
@ridgmont613 жыл бұрын
Will you regret not running the guttering around the corner and direct to the drain? When all of your works are finished - the room would make a great home cinéma !
@TheRestorationCouple3 жыл бұрын
It’s just such a narrow path that everything would knock it, wheelbarrows etc. Other option is just come down the other end in to a small soak away.
@philipallen86483 жыл бұрын
Dont know if it would also get in the way into the nice workshop but maybe feed the down pipe into a water butt for gardening etc and then have the overflow feed piped arround the corner into the drain. May be a bad idea if it would get in the way, one to ponder on and maybe save a bit on water.

Couldn’t quite work out how the pegs hide the screws - are they just above the pegs? Is that a screwdriver 🪛 for a door handle? 😀
@TheRestorationCouple3 жыл бұрын
Screws are set back inside an 18mm hole, that way the oak peg just plugs that. Yep, square file is the current door handle! 🤣
@adriandotsmall3 жыл бұрын
@@TheRestorationCouple thanks! That makes sense. My minds eye had you smashing out the screw with the peg which I knew didn’t make sense.

Having seen the amount of extra water coming of our 3x3,5 room I'd be a bit more worried about that drain area, be interested to see how large the puddle becomes when there's a steady rain - which isn't uncommon in your neck of the woods...
