I remember this dress issue it literally caused an uproar with everyone from all over. I still don't see any sign of blue that people mention especially the so called black that is still to me NOT there. The dress on the left that's actually blue and black looks nothing like the white and gold dress on the right. It puzzles me how people see blue and black on the gold dress even with poor lighting doesn't seem enough evidence for me to see blue and black unless someone had photoshopped the dress to mess with everyone. Being a specific type of color blind, I always knew the dress was blue because I was incapable of seeing it as gold. Also the same color blindness allows me to freeze those moving images whenever I want. That is not to say there are not some major disadvantages to my color blindness as well, ha.

What I like about optical illusions is that they provide clues as to how our 'vision system' processes the 'signals' it is receiving. What is also interesting is that even though you know what the illusion is, you cannot 'turn it off' and see the reality. ;-/ I suspect that 'vision' takes some much 'processing power' and is essential to survival that interrupting it would be dangerous to your health. Thanks for sharing these. I really enjoy them. :)

This has nothing to do with intelligence, and everything to do with the color receptors in your brain. If you have a blue bedspread, and you shine a yellow light on it, it still looks more or less blue. This is because your brain is adjusting for and filtering out the yellow light. Different people's brains have different levels of skill at doing this. Usually this difference isn't big enough for one person to see it as blue, another as yellow. However, the dress was just on the line.

How are those dresses at 1:30 the same dress? Even if you leave the color out of it (because for some reason black can be seen as gold in optical illusion reasoning...), there are flaps at the top of the right dress that are probably sleeves, while the left dress is clearly sleeveless. Also, the top of the left dress is semi see-through, but you can see absolutely none of the bright light in the right picture through the top of that dress. Then, the top section clearly overlaps the second section on the right dress, but there is almost no overlap on the left dress. One more small thing, the same style of dress can come in different colors, so even if they were the exact same style, that doesn't make them the same dress. Pay attention and you won't get sucked in by those trying to trick everyone into believing that the dress is actually blue and black. The dress picture is probably more of a social experiment to see how many will say it is black and blue just because a large amount of other people said that is what they saw. A very light blue tint is understandable, but if you see the dress on the right as being the same color as the dress on the left, you need to get your eyes checked. Color optical illusions can cause you to see a lighter or darker shade of a color, but I have yet to see one that causes anyone with normal vision to see a different color altogether.
