When the bridge was being built, it was very common for workers to die while building that kind of architecture and buildings, bridges, etc. 11 deaths is a lot for us because nowadays, it's not "normal" for a bridge worker to die, but safety measures were not in place in these days. The net mentioned in the video was a first. Employers didn't have a lot of concern for heir workers' safety, it was just totally normal for people to die and nobody was held accountable. Thank God it has changed and security is so important today.

It's the fact that due to the precautionary measures in place that only 11 died considering how long the bridge is and how long it took to build many more could have died for instance look at Hoover Dam it took a few more years to build but not much but because poor safety measures over 100 people died building it.

Interesting note about the nuclear bomb photo. The main one they focus on is the Bravo Shot from Operation Crossroads. That big black splotch in the stalk of the mushroom cloud is the USS Arkansas (BB-33). The Arkansas was 562 feet long, 93 feet wide and displaced 27,000 tons... and she's suspended vertically from the force of that explosion.
@DorothyCarterArchive8 жыл бұрын
Seriously?! Why was it so close?!
@samspaulding87298 жыл бұрын
+Jack Strait's Unofficial Channel the reason why they had so many ships close to the nuclear explosion is that operation crossroads was supposed to test the strength of naval ships against nukes

+Jess Shoni -- I know, right? They irradiated that whole area and displaced an entire culture. But you know the US (especially in the 40s and 50s)... if it wasn't white, it wasn't an "important" culture. Plus there were commies to scare... and what better way to do it than blowing the same group of islands up, over and over again?
@atlasthetitan6988 жыл бұрын
Today its more "if its white, it's not important."
@lunadibeppe8 жыл бұрын
+Jess Shoni I have a very good friend who was born there. They WERE told what was going to be done there and they WERE NOT told it would be 3 days. In exchange for the use of the atoll for testing, they were permanently relocated to the islands, where homes, stores and businesses were built, along with schools where they were taught English. They were also given unlimited access to the United States to live, work and study, whenever and for as long as they want. Many opted to move to Hawaii, because it was so much like home, while as of 2014, about 4,000 have taken up residence in Arkansas.

Exactly. She should have stated that eleven people died during construction, period. No need to say the word only.

Doubt the golden gate bridge is a mile wide but otherwise this is an awesome video. Didn't know there was that many MGM lions. And the queen and Marilyn were the same age? That's cool I really enjoyed this one. Hey can you do a video on "serial killers with wierd jobs" or something similar? Like BTK being an animal control officer and Gacy being a party clown. I just think that'd be interesting. Thanks a bunch.

I think they got confused. On wikipedia it says, "The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate strait, the one-mile-wide (1.6 km), three-mile-long (4.8 km) channel between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean." Meaning the channel is 3 miles long and 1 mile wide.

I had to read the comments before watching it to know if it's gonna shock me. I'm going to watch it now.
