That's why you must have a dashcam. From my experience, I have been deactivated twice, and as soon as I tell Uber that I have video footage for every trip in the last 20 days that can prove the rider is lying, I get reinstated within 24hrs.

Hourly rate is calculated how ever you calculate it. The time I leave my house until I get home. App on, app off, passenger no passenger. We need to make approx $30 an hour before expenses.

@stayer69 that'll NEVER HAPPEN! Not here anyways. No matter how you calculate or how you work, you'll NEVER make more than the algorithm wNts to pay u by the end of the day it'll be $20hr-30hr, avg is $25 due to prop 22 but they are also adding in, or stealing your tip to get to the algo.

What’s been bugging me is that Patrick isn’t taking requests under $30, yet his AR is still 40%. That means at least every third request he gets is $30+-on UberX and Comfort, driving a Prius. Is the Bay Area really that good, or am I missing something? Here in Los Angeles (which I wouldn’t call the worst market), I only see $30+ requests maybe once every 2-3 days.

He's gaslighting himself by re-framing what "hourly" means to him. His "calculation" equals $30 per hour based on the time and distance in an upfront market. So he's out there 10 hours, but maybe only working 6 or 7 and making $30 per hour for those 6 or 7 hours.

The only dynamic you have control over when treating Uber like a "business" is calculation of expenses. This is not a business, this is a mis-classified W2 where the worker takes on the majority of liability.

You cant only calculate the fare prices, you must also calculate the prop 22 hourly rate and how uber calculate it. I drove 5 hours the other day and only received 3 fares with 1 cancelation for a total of $21. I got 1 $5 tip bringing me to $26 for the day. The tip disappeared the next day because uber stole it. They didn't wNt to pay me more than $20hr. My active time was 54mins. Online time read 3+hrs. Uber is ripping us off in many ways! To maximize your hourly pay, dont try to drop your passengers faster. You need passengers in the car as long as possible to get prop 22 pay. Basically, driving for uber today is 100% slave labor. I used to make $200 in 8hrs. Now i drive 10-12hrs to make same. I rent from hertz because i cant afford to buy a car. My rental, insurance, gas, fastrak are around $700wk. I haven't been able recently to drive long enough hours everyday to make any money. The only pay i get is the rented car. It SUCKS!

@Michael-s9o3m the "market" is the area in which you work. Different areas have different values. Here in the bay area, Tesla vehicles are commonly forced upon renters which also happens to be the most expensive vehicles to rent. After all fees, insurance and charges, the cost comes to around $700. A gas vehicle, if you are so lucky enough to get one, is about half that, but after gas costs, still comes out to around the same price. Hence my comment before... renting a vehicle for/ from uber costs around $700. After car washes, supplies and lunches, my overhead comes out to be around 1k/mo. It's very difficult nowadays to make a profit. // I may have misunderstood your question regarding "what market." I am in the San Francisco Bay area. I currently live and try to work in Napa/Sonoma but find myself heading to the eastbay or SF now and then. SF has the highest paying algorithms if you can stomach the traffic and the people!

Hrly pay calculations.. 50% $ per time is $30hr. If a ride is paying $5 it cant be more than a 10min drive. 50% good luck because uber algorithms will still only offer you fares that equal whatever rate they are paying, period! You cannot make more no matter what you do by the end of the day.

Fastest way to calculate is to add the minutes (pickup + dropoff) and divide it by 2 . 20 minute needs to pay $10 to hit $30/hour. 10 minute equals $5 . 15 minutes equals $7.50 etc ..

Acceptance rates are a joke…in our market you have 4seconds to accept…10 minutes to pickup usually means 14 or 15 minutes….those minutes to pickup are always understated…. I have driven less in 2024 than previous 9 years, as costs are much higher when driving newer cars… usually $20,000 per year depreciation, ($1,800 per month)…car payments around $540 per month….gas at $400 per month, $2,740 month expenses….sooo grossing $4,000 month only nets me $1,260 month..not a lot for 1200 hours, $1.05 per hour …Uber is a joke…

It may be better to rent if you're making $40/hr or more. I noticed if you rent an electric vehicle that qualifies for Uber Comfort... other than that its not worth it. Buying a black hybrid (comfort) vehicle 4years or younger is the best way to do it IMO

I too drive the SF bay areas. In sf you can still make a few pennies but you must be able to drive very long hours everyday and be able to deal with the insane traffic and roadways and the PEOPLE ARE NUTZ! With uber algorithms you will make around 20-30hr if you drive 12hrs/day. Still too low to pay bills!

I was unjustly deactivated from Lyft 12 weeks ago. Rider made bogus claim that I, me-me, mine was not the Driver registered to the app, based on the photo on the Rider/Driver app. I assured her that I am me. Nonetheless, Lyft chooses to believer her, furthermore slandering me, making the accusation that I was leasing out the app/car to some joker on the street (grounds for lawsuit?). For what, a pitiable $10 per day, I would risk my car, insurance, rideshare privilege. Doesn't pass the common sense test. Nonetheless I was deactivated.

I always figure rides by mileage not hourly. If I'm making $26 for an hour long ride that is 45 miles I'm not making barely anything. Other drivers in my area I have talked to are happy to take these rides. Drivers tell me that is making $26 and hour. I can't seem to convince them they aren't making that much. Better educating drivers on their costs per mile needs to happen for Uber to stop offering crappy rides like that. If drivers keep refusing them and riders can't get an Uber, Uber will have to offer drivers more.

I only use Lyft because I drive a Tesla. Lyft passengers overall are: Better. Nicer. Tip better… more often… If you’re making $600/ day for 12 hours… you’re working: A day “AND A HALF”… So… $400/ day= $50/ hour “HARD TIME”… But you’re getting F@CKED not making 1.5X OVERTIME pay ($75/ hour) for ONE THIRD of your hours!!! Tesla robotaxi gonna put an end to all off this anyways…
