minor typo, p2= p1 which is 175KPA not 125KPA i’m pretty sure all the answers are right tho

"Isolated" means no heat or work transfer, this only says "insulated", so yes there is work but no Q.

hey man did you understand why we didnt add the Work boundary in the energy balance formula. We Have shaft work + electric work and word done by piston movement which is boundary work but he didnt calculate it

the pressure in state 2, is it not suppose to be 175 ?

You’re right. Should be 175, I think I misread my handwriting there. I think everything else is probably correct though.

I tried to do this only using P x delta V. My delta V came out to a smallish 2.372 m^3. Multiplied by the constant pressure of 175Kpa yielded just 415 KJ of work. Why can’t we get the answer this other way?

If you are doing it that route make sure you use internal energy u, not enthalpy h. Enthalpy contains boundary work for constant pressure processes.

I just let my students create their own formula sheet on an index card. Unless you’re talking about the unit conversion sheet or property tables?

for h I got 44.36+0.5(2240.6)=1564.66 this should get me to the final answer got that from table

Argghhhh... I accidentally wrote 125 kPa for state 2, but that should be 175 kPa. I think that should work!
