I got 24 out of 25 on my first exam just from watching your videos. I can't express how grateful I am to you. I am also watching the Statics playlist you made, it is perfect.

Actually the question doesn't state that the water fills the whole first part of the tank, and it's a compressed liquid, so we don't know if (V1 = 0.5 * V_tank). So there is a lack of information in the question. Anyway, thank you so much for this great job, this is my second time I watch your videos of this playlist, I'll try to complete them in a week, to be ready for Further Thermodynamics Course (Thermodynamics 2). 🌸

Would there be some H due to the mass flow from one side to the other? Or could we just neglect that by assuming it’s negligible?
@yolo3004
@yolo3004 6 ай бұрын
The system in consideration is the whole rigid tank, not just the water inside it. The volume of the tank stays the same, there's no boundary work, so the change in enthalpy is equal to the change in internal energy.

How did the initial tank of water generate the pressure? This is not mgh pressure right? Do you need a pump or a diaphragm pushing back on the fluid? Always get confused by this

For state one why do we take the information for vf and uf from saturated liquid if we don't know if its a liquid or a vapor ? Great video btw
@engineeringdeciphered
@engineeringdeciphered 3 жыл бұрын
Because if it’s a liquid and not on the compressed liquid table, then we have to estimate it. The best estimation is using the saturated liquid values at the given temperature.

The answer shouldnt be 0.25 its 2.3, The quality is correct in the video but the calculations in the textbook answers states that the quality is .00002 and its really .0002
@engineeringdeciphered
@engineeringdeciphered 3 жыл бұрын
The solution I’m following says the quality of state 2 (by looking at the specific volume) is (.002-.001)/(43.34-.001) which is 2.3x10^-5 (0.000023). Is there an error here?
@muhammadfirdauz2246
@muhammadfirdauz2246 2 жыл бұрын
@@engineeringdeciphered He got 2.3 because in the video when you are calculating u2, the x value that you used is 0.00023 instead of 0.000023. However, the answer is still correct altho the X value has less zero in it.

i dont get how v 2 is v total. it says the tank is divided into two parts so shouldnt v total = v1 + v2 ?

why wouldn't you just take u2 from the table is it not the same thing?
@engineeringdeciphered
@engineeringdeciphered Жыл бұрын
I did get u2 from the property table. I took the temp and v and went to table a4, got the quality, and used the quality (and table) to get u2. If it’s a mixture, you can’t just “read” it off the table- you need to calculate the quality, x, so that you can calculate the u.

Late reply but I had the same question until I went back to what he said. He said v1 is half of the v(total) so he did (v1)x2
