The chilli oil with the noodles and liver looked so good.
@eswillie2 ай бұрын
You were right, I really would like those pork liver noodles, with or without the chili sauce. I'm also a fan of sesame/peanut sauce noodles, and at least at home I can always thin out the paste with soy sauce, black vinegar and chili oil. Keep the Shanghai videos coming, it's all good.

Yeah I think they went easy on the chilli oil and vinegar as they were worried about us 😂

Man this old alley noodle restaurant is one my favorite in Shanghai! By the way, about the pork chops, I don't think Japanese learned from us. Actually we both learned from Europeans(that is why we use that british sauce to serve it), the Gillette Pork Chop is its origin I guess. Traditionally we don't fry meat with shredded bread coating.

Despite all your Cantonese pronunciation Gee-ma-woo, I can figure out you mixup with the one Seasem dessert, not noodle. Noodle should be Mian, not woo 糊.

@11:50 She's wrong. The pork chop is not classic Shanghai food. Just like the Worcester sauce you showed, its European influenced, from the time they had their little colonies in Shanghai (called Concessionaries).
@theroamingcook2 ай бұрын
I think if it’s been over 100 years, I think we can call it classic no?

endless carbs 😅. adding black vinegar and chili oil... you need to go to chengdu or sichuan in general. some people say food in shanghai and neighboring provinces are more on the bland side compared to other regional chinese foods.

She almost made mistake telling casher 汤面 noodle with soup, but you say noodle on the side. Fortunately casher suggest what you really ordered, soup on the side. Because if liver stay in hot soup minutes long, will quickly get overcooked. So many noodle with different variety, she suggest pork liver😮,also vegetable chicken (素 ji), all cheap stuff. I don't think she's 美食家😅. You asked her what's delicious, she translate back long words, actually in Chinese, just 1 word Xian 鲜. How do you say bye bye, she responds Bye bye.😅 easily get lost in words. In contrary, you know how to order noodle with family. Good choice.
