Bullshit he was tired. Guy runs fifteen miles onstage every night; a fucking ballad don't tire him (he was bringing the sound down then up like the soul singers do).

I saw him in Honky-tonk Kansas City in 69 young with long hair in leather jumpsuits and his nine way Leo energy was intense but not as revealing as this performance, of the greatest performer that will ever walk this Rock, tipping a hat to Otis who wine and dined them when they were broke.

Yes. I cry each time i watch it. Its over without him. When you see them lice its Mick and Charlie you would leave impressed with. Every time. Now with the thoroughly pedestrian and bland Steve Jordan on the drums its not there anymore. Not to mention Keith is a shell of the player he was even here. Its all Mick's riffs on the new stuff.

This is the truth. Big O did all the great love songs & lost love songs. But his most famous song was Dock of the Bay & that was my least favorite. He would sing his heart & soul out. RIP Big O!! RIP Charlie!!

I remember the first time I saw them perform this on the Licks tour at the Beacon Theater in NYC. It literally brought the house down that night. Half the audience was in tears and the other half were in awe watching the best rock n roll band on the planet.

@@mathmusic1490 Sorry, I got my shows mixed up. The one where they played this was at the Roseland Ballroom show in 2002. The Beacon show was the one for the Scorcese film. I went to both so sorry for the screw up.

Brian you were fortunate to have attended the two shows, even though the Paris show is part of Four Flicks ( I have it) it deserves a stand alone Blu ray release, hope we get it down the line, although looks like the NY Prudential show from 2012 is next for general release, but usually it's followed by a second release soon after, fingers crossed 🙏☘️

love it!! the rolling stones did a very great job on this, Otis Redding was definatly a great artist and singer. This song is definatly hard one to do but the Stones knocked it outta the park. GREAT JOB STONES

Throw in the fact Keith is a spent force and its crazy people are all excited for the new tour and ready to pay the prices ive seen. The whole reason the Stones were so great live aside from Mick is gone. Its a Mick solo venture. The new album is all Mick. The last two albums and then some are Mick's riffs. Keith can't even be bothered with coming up with something. I think this band is the best there ever was but oh my god this must stop.

I beg to differ. The best version of this song was undoubtedly done by Otis Redding. Jagger's interpretation of it here is good but I would say Paul Rodgers does an even better job on it.

Always interesting to see The Greatest Rock’n Roll Band in the World bringing their sources of inspiration to the stage. This is probably one of Jagger’s initiatives. He’s not Otis Redding, but he’s sure as H… Mick Jagger. And that’s exactly how a tribute should be done… Once again, and for the 1000.0000’d 78’th time a true live triumph for The Stones - and for the entire band.
