That's not even remotely true. Benson is a nice guy deep down, until you offend him. Benson believes that if you're going to do a job, you do it efficiently and you do it right. Mordecai and Rigby almost never hold up to this standard. This is when Benson loses it and lashes out. There are plenty of instances where Benson starts out as peaceful but Mordecai and Rigby make his patience run dry. Like the time Benson got sandwiches for everyone on the house, and the two thought it would be funny to order the 84 dollar sandwich. The time Benson wanted to get donuts for everyone. Benson giving them plenty of chances to impress and make him proud. He puts genuine hope in Mordecai and Rigby, hope that he can teach them more responsibility

They don't lean into being super extra edgy, or making sly "were so mature dropping f bombs all the time" jokes, instead they just straight up take these more mature situations at face value (or at least the most obvious that they could've done for a CN show) and throw them right there into your face and you either understand it or don't.

Myself, and most other addicts/alcoholics I know drink and use because it's exactly the person they want to be when they're sober (for the most part). Funny, confident, able to brush off comments and not get angry over every little thing. Hell, even a great leader. I don't think it's dangerous to say that, if anything I think it's necessary to realize you're doing it for that reason. The important part is recognizing and working to make yourself the person you wanna be without it.

While all these cartoon conspiracy videos do add a mysterious and dark twist that is exciting and seems like a leap into the dark for a kid’s show, as an adult it really just seems like the creators were making a show that can make social commentary based on real life while also making it viewable for kids. After all, most of us have had a raging dry drunk boss or two. Sometimes they relapse or other times just smash shit and scream in their office.

Absolutely love this show. I think this habit of adult situations is what got it cancelled. Cartoon network changed after this show ended

Had a new kid in my school when going into grade 3, we sat next to each other and we had the same clipboards and we were best friends from then on. So that part of the show hit home xD

11:26 This makes me think that the wings are meant to represent mixed drinks, and the hot sauce is the hard liquor.

Ok first and foremost I just finished the whole show for the second time this last weekend lol. And yes, I’ve always thought the wings were their representation of alcohol but I never thought of benson being an alcoholic which in hindsight makes total sense.

I always liked how the gum balls in Benson’s head make up his facial hair.

In my opinoin yes benson is an alchoholic or wingaholic but i never saw him as mean and irritable all the time. He is nice to skips, pops, muscle man, high five ghost. He really only gets mad at mordecia and rigby. And he is justified. They allways do crazy stuff like summon satan and nliw up the park. Benson is the most stable character to me.

95% of the show features benson raging his ass off idk how he’s still alive

benson waking up in the middle of the desert hungover off of wing sauce is some "the hangover" type shenanigans

There are enough scenes to make the intro an entire compilation video.

Tbf this show was more for teens and up than it was for _kid_-kids. As a teenager, Benson's drunk state was apparent to most. That said, I am grateful they went that route for him, it gave his character more depth than simply "angry boss."

I love that the job he had gave him stability. 💜

I think that benson is depressed and so his use of wings makes sense. Appropriately he’s less inhibited when under the influence and so he’s more open to people. Personally I’m the same I don’t like alcohol but it’s something to ease pain and help relax which is nice sometimes.

The show always seem like it was made for more of the teenage audience and maybe the a part of the kids but it always had a deeper meaning

15:01 What about The Marvellous Misadventures of Flapjack? Captain K’nuckles was clearly an alcoholic/“candy” addict.
