can the question be answered, how probiotics or beneficial bacteria can manage to get through the stomach acid to the gut?

what if we alkalise the stomach acid by drinking bicarbonate soda on a daily to neutralise the acid

Probiotics don’t have problem with acidic environment. Sourkrout is very acidic and full of probiotics, same as kefir, kombucha, etc... they create acid and live in that environment, so, they shouldn’t have problems with stomach acid.

I love the Monthly Mailbag!! "Antibiotic resistance in Helicobacter pylori" Current Opinion in Infectious Diseases: October 2017 - Volume 30 - Issue 5 - p 489-497 Purpose of review: Treatment of Helicobacter pylori is difficult nowadays because of its high resistance. The prevalence and mechanism of resistance, the different methods to detect it and the clinical implication of resistance were addressed in several research papers last year.

This was really helpful. I had an appendectomy at age 12 and now have psoriasis...an auto-immune disease. Question 1: is it possible this is the cause of my auto-immune condition? Question 2: do probiotics survive in stomach acid.? All the current wisdom says to eat probiotic foods...but doesn't the stomach acid destroy these friendly bacteria? I think many people would like to know! I'd really appreciate your input on these questions. Thanks, David

Answer 1:There is no association between psoriasis and having history of appendectomy. Answer 2: Just like guy in the video explained not 100% of the microbes get destroy in stomach even if 1% of the microbes survive they can start a new colony in your intestine as long as proper nutrients constantly been supplied though your diet. so best way to keep their presence in the intestine would be to eat food that is enriched in probiotics such as yogurt so you are not only supplying nutrients for them you are also introducing new batch of bacteria from time to time.

Did I zone out when he said stomach acids would destroy probiotics on an empty stomach-when many people consume them?

The medical industry is generally great at doing research but terrible and drawing the right conclusions. Rarely are all of the possibilities considered, in favor of the one that is more profitable, or that fits their particular scientific worldview.

@kaivalpatel3152
@kaivalpatel3152 3 жыл бұрын
Hey sanaara PPI and or H2RA drug should have improve GERD symptoms(if GERD was diagnosed properly); being said a) compliance is not an issue, b) recommended dose and plan was followed properly for 6 months I think. Another thing to keep in mind is if symptoms of GERD disappears with out medication it is not necessary a good thing all the time. sometimes condition gets worse called barret's esophagus ( in this condition esophagus has replaced cell line with mucous producing cells to survive against harsh acidic condition which is beginning of precancerous stages.

Unless I'm mistaken, biowaste from surgeries gets incinerated. As your appendix gets combusted the resulting carbon dioxide ends up in the atmosphere. You could say that your backup is, quite literally, in the cloud!

As answers go, this makes sense... But yet another scientist experimenting on themselves to prove their findings when the science alone should prove it's own point which can be verified by other scientists conducting the experiment and concluding with the same result. Why do some scientist find it so hard to believe that some teachings were wrong, and the only way they will believe it is if someone experiments on themself and puts their life on the line.
