Thank you for your continued content, Rome and antiquity is by far the most interesting epoch of history for me and thoroughly enjoy your in-depth and well researched content in this area. Please keep it up! While you have covered this area previously, I'd love a similar video specifically about Marcus Furuis Camillus, the roll he played in the mythical sack of Rome, and giving some perspective on the realty and myths of his life and contempary events. I appreciate a lack of source material in this area likely has influenced not covering this important figure more specifically.

Interesting analysis about how competent were the Romans of this age, but I have to add that it was in this instance, in the war against the Seleucids in Asia minor that a major case of Roman military insubordination was reported for the first time. I am talking about the campaign launched by the Roman commander Gnaeus Manlius Vulso in 189 BC against the Galatians, a people living in the inland of the Anatolian peninsula, without either the permission nor any requests from the Senate of Rome. Vulso started this "side-war" on his own initiative and prevailed. When he returned to Rome he was initially accused of threatening another conflict with the Seleucids by altering the balance of power in Asia Minor but later he was discharged and was even elected as Consul. This whole affair set a dangerous precedent showing that military insubordination of Roman commanders could not only avoid legal repercussions but, to the contrary, be used to gain awards (a triumph) and political authority (consulship). This example was clearly remembered and emulated by later generations of Roman commanders with far more self-destructive consequences for the Roman Republic.

Okey, your loss mate honestly so bugger off. This is one of the few high quality and well research channels regarding roman history, though given your comment doubt you even have an interest in this field if "B.C.E" is so triggering to you. Way to go and spoil some brilliant narrative history for you. Fun fact: CE and B.C.E was first used in the early 18th centaury, roughly 1708, truly modern revisionism! 🤡🤡

@@Ted-Stryker1- a simpleton screams into the void at the discomfort of a living in changing universe and insults the people who offer him pity and empathy. 2-complaining about revisionism inherently says academia cannot self correct, which is the entire basis of it's social merit. You are complaining about the nature of academia. Without revisionism we would still believe in miasma theory and concentric astral rings. I'm sorry that classic European Renaissance values seems to have passed you by but this has been the core of western meritocracy for the last 300 years. Looks like you might be the revisionist? 3-if you are going to criticize someone you should support it or you run the risk of embarrassing yourself like this again in future and probably not even realizing it. You look desperate to ignore the reality that what you say reflects things on you that you don't intend. Vinegar rhetoric does not an intellectual make and if you use a bit of honey you can probably make it to middle age before you chill out enough to realize you're actually an average intellect with no basis to call anyone a simpleton.
