My theory of all the ghosts and why they all live in the same mansion: E. Gadd mentions in the Gallery that he had been traveling around the world for years sucking up these ghosts. Some ghosts like the family in the first area are all related and had been caught together, while others like the fortune teller are simply different ghosts from other places E Gadd had traveled to. That's when he decided to go for Boolussus, which angers King Boo enough to come and release all of E Gadd's ghosts out of revenge. Once all the ghosts were free, King Boo then used his power to build the Mansion, offering the ghosts a new place to live in exchange for helping him out with defeating Mario. He probably wanted Luigi to come in order to lure Mario in. So he then had the phony contest made as bait for Luigi to come, but Mario came first, wanting to check out the Mansion. King Boo then got him, while Luigi was traveling to the Mansion as well, this setting up the game. TLDR: The ghosts are not one big family, but some are related. E Gadd caught these ghosts from around the world, then King Boo released them when he went for Mario and Luigi by building a haunted Mansion to lure them in.

I always assume MOST of the ghosts are related and all part of a Rich family. Basically just alot of cousins and such. I really wish there was alot more lore on it but I suppose they don't want to talk more about the fact that these are dead people, since it's kinda glossed over?

@@transorm987 As far as can be known for sure, across versions: Neville, Lydia, Chauncey, Orville/Henry, Miss Petunia, Melody, Sue Pea, and Nana are most definitely related to one another, with Shivers as Melody's butler, if not the entire family's. Neville, Lydia, Chauncey, Nana, and the twins are obvious, Nana messing with Miss Petunia in the bath all but guarantees that they're related, and both Shivers and Sue Pea have been bullied by the twins. Given that Shivers the butler is obsessed with and in the employ of Melody, she'd have to be part of their family, as well. That's all that's known for certain.

@@elijahpadilla5083 The uncle, forget his second name, is also obviously related. There's nothing about Miss Petunia that states she's related to Nana, they've just met each other. Messing with someone hardly says they're related. Also Sue Pea sleeps in the guest room, so that means she might not be related and could be the child of a family friend. Nothing says that the twins have bullied Shivers or Sue Pea. The only characters that are for 100% a family are Neville, Lydia, Chauncy and The Twins. The others that are pretty confirmed are Nana and Uncle Grimmly, only because they have family terms in their names. All the others are speculation. Melody and Sue Pea are never stated to be related to anyone. It should be noted the Melody has a confirmed second name, as does Sue Pea. Meaning that those don't have the same parents.

It's been awhile since I play this game, but I remember having to be absurdly close to the ghosts to use the vacuum. You almost HAVE to use the B button because, if the light stuns a ghost too early, it will just disappear. The later games improved that in my opinion.

There is a slight delay between when the ghost is stunned and when you start vacuuming, but yes, Tim does seem to have the reaction times of a turtle.

It really feels like he should be able to start sucking sooner, and I have no idea if that's Tim reacting slow or Game Mechanics being crappy.

I swear, I never knew there was a solution to the twins hide and seek game. I always thought it was a literal guessing game because when I first played I got stuck on this for hours trying to guess the right ones and believing it was based on patterns and not just messing with the boxes. I also remembered being confused on why they would call me a cheater since I was always guessing, then passed it off as them being normal kids and accusing you of cheating just for winning

I played this game a ton as a kid, and i never knew the vacuum trick for the twins until i saw an lp of the game (maybe Chuggas, I'm not sure), and i was so shocked and amazed when they used the vacuum and it worked. I was also upset to learn that i wasted all that time and frustration for no reason

From what I understand, the original actor is still alive, he is just a College Voice Teacher or something. the speedy spirit in the twins' room is a relatively small value, just a bunch of bills and coins, though I think you'll have an easier time by climbing the ladder and making it appear it when you're in the top bunk, since the best chance to get them is when you're right in front of it.

Thinking about it, are Henry and Orville the only twins in any Mario game outside of the Mario Bros. themselves? Because I don’t think it’s ever stated whether or not Princess Shroob and her sister were supposedly twins, just that one is older though that doesn’t rule out the possibility of them being twins. 1:25 Goes to show either how much Emile’s equipment really balances out the Guys’ speaking volume and/or how echoey his house is that Jon was able to hear that remark and have his retort picked up on recording. So I guess the Joniverse has to do its best to preserve/extend Tim’s lifespan. Fishstikz Yeah, the M&L games, namely SS though I can also think of at least one instance in the 3DS games, really liked having characters who wore red and green, the green one in some instances being taller, and more often than not were related by blood. However, as you pointed out with Gigi and Mimi, it’s never explicitly stated if those like the Hammerhead Bros., Cask and Cork, and the Starshade Bros. are also twins. TMK aside from the Mario Bros., Henry and Orville are called out as being twins at various points.

Chugga "hints" that need correction: -Speedy Spirits are better caught with the flashlight on when you bump their hiding place. Tim was doing the right thing beforehand, his reactions were just too slow. How annoying that he *finally* taught him this when it was actively detrimental. -*ORVILLE IS THE ONE THAT DROPS PEARLS. IT NEVER CHANGES.* -Some candles in hallways have fire elementals, others don't. Going to the kitchen wasn't strictly necessary.

The Astral Hall is one of my favorite rooms. Madame Clairvoya is always a treat to see; I've seen several Luigi's Mansion let's plays, including Emile's, and I'm still sad when Luigi can finally vacuum her up. She goes willingly too, which makes it extra sad. The twins are a bit of a problem to fresh players, but Tim got the secret to finding them with the shaking boxes right away! Good on him. Now, if only he could locate and capture Speedy Spirits with such ease.

I think Emile made the same mistake in his LP, but it isn't the second twin you go after that drops the pearls. It is only Wilbur (the one in the plane). Funny Story, When i first did hide and seek with Henry and Orville, I didn't ever think to try vacuuming the boxes to find them, so i just kept guessing over and over and over, until i got lucky and found them both. When they called me cheater afterward, I was pissed off with them and asked "How did I cheat? I literally just guessed over and over," then i started to wonder if it was even possible to cheat. it was sad really.
