This video will be exactly what I would be looking for some time down the road. I stay away from labor rates on maintenance lol

My dad started out as a machinist and worked his way into estimating the cost of the work to make a profit and keep the customers happy. I swear dad's are great, they can usually do anything. Your dad was probably thinking, put the damn camera down and quit wasting time. You could probably make more money as a mechanic and repairing stuff, then driving.

The friction surface of the brake drum and the brake friction material are contaminated by oil or grease. (393.47(a)). That means it’s an out of service violation by the FMCSA. Pull into a scale and let them find those brake shoes contaminated with oil and they will ticket you for it

“A loose bearing is a happy bearing” is what I was taught. Not literally loose, basically that over tightening will burn them up. It’s all by feel. I don’t know how these internet keyboard warriors would ever be able do it, they need a torque spec for everything.

Once the brake shoes/liners have been contaminated with oil/grease they need changing ,cleaning the shoes/liners is no good as soon as the shoes/ liners get hot the grease/oil will come out reducing the friction with the drum

@Richiecorner657 ай бұрын
@@ky.gambler5281 Nah, i will try and explain ,oil and grease soak into the lining material , and every time the brakes are applied this causes heat,so the soaked in oil seeps out seducing the friction , the only cheat would be to replicate this by using a blow torch to heat the linings then clean off the liner until there is no more oil coming out , this has its problems as it makes the rivets brittle.
