12:27 Yup, VERY important step. If you ever take the shaft out, clean the old grease as best you can and put new grease in. A lot of people skip this step that could gain them quite a few miles/km from that bearing. If you're already in, do it, even if you have to drop everything and run to the parts store to get the grease. I've heard this story so many times "dammit, wish i'd changed the bearings when i changed the seal" and similar. If the bearing's not shot, just pack it with fresh grease, it does a heck of a lot more than one think.

Hey Chris, glad to see you back. You might want to mention that some axles have C clips instead of bearing retention. For those, you'll need to remove the differential cover first. From there, you can remove the c clips from the end of the axle shafts. These are found on old Chevys for example.

Noticed the slide the wheel underneath tip, and the why behind it. It works. I'm living proof. Was swapping the front axle on my 73 F 250, when I was 19. Mild lift and 40s, 460, 4 BBL, tow truck 5 speed with PTO, and an MP 205 t case. Ended up with a SRW set off an F 350, and wasn't going to pass up the price. Take them. They're yours. My cousin walked in, talking to a friend, and decided to lean against the front fender, while I was setting the axle in the springs, shackle unhooked. Felt and saw the truck rock, and moved to GTFO from under it. Took a decent smack from the bumper and plow frame, broken collarbone, and 3 ribs. Cut on my forehead that peeled back part of my scalp. Because that 16 by 10 rim under the frame on each side held. If a tire is off now, it's under. I also Try to push the vehicle off the stands now, before crawling underneath, no exceptions. Spent a week in the hospital, donated my hair early, as reversing my scalping meant shaving part of it off, and was back in the sho a week later. 3 months of antibiotics as well, and a script for hydrocodone as well. But. It solidly beats being dead. Thanks Chris for always passing that tip along. It was usually what I did, but that day, I was rushing to get the job done, and almost paid for it with my life. For the last 30 years, I've always triple checked every safety item involved in every repair. If i can add anyrhing to that, it's this. Always try to rock your car, on the stands Before starting to work on it. Both times I had one fall, I'd forgotten that step. Got my hand pinned to a tree by my 81 Cadillac, installing new brakes, when I was 17. Ground wasn't level enough. Wind picked up, and it went sideways. Mostly incpnvienient, no major injury, but I found a different working location at my grandparents' place.

Hay Chris Fix. Great video on the axle seals. One thing I want to point out when I see the rear seals leaking. Is to always check the axle vent cap because if it’s clogged it could be letting pressure build up and that will push the oil out past the seals. On my Toyota I changed mine and when I unscrewed it I heard a poof that told me there was pressure. The seals weren’t leaking yet but it was just a matter of time.

Great video Chris - thanks. Just an FYI - some vehicles have clips, at the end of the axel shaft by the spline, in the rear diff that help hold the axel in, besides nuts on the wheel plate. Those clips need to be removed before you'll be able to remove the axel. This requires removing the rear diff cover after draining the fluid. Good luck with your new place and new videos.

Love the KZbinr collaboration. I've never seen one in the dark before. Time must have definitely been of the essence!!! I think my Blazer and Mustang will be a little different (C clips) but still some helpful tips!
