I think the word "Amen" comes close to "Om". I thought he was going to bring it up. The sounds heard at beach, rain etc. have no specific pitch or frequency to it. The energy is distributed uniformly across all frequency. Hence it is called "White Noise" like while light which has all sever colors. This sound has a soothing effect and can put people to sleep. If you close your ears with a cup made of metal, you will be able to hear this white noise. This is caused by the random collisions of air molecules (brownian motion) on to the container wall. Therefore, the word Om is possibly close to the white noise which spans across all possible frequencies from the cosmos.
