I can't fathom those rulings. A wrong answer is a wrong answer. If the question is "who played Venom in 2018's Venom" and I wrote down Tim hardy, I'd be wrong because I clearly don't know my trivia well enough. If he'd spelled it wrong but pronounced it the right way, then it's a whole different story. Tortuga is Spanish for turtle.Tartuga means jack shit!

Upon googling it, tartuga means turtle in portuguese; which is more right than ninko, but both are still incorrect. Since they're just looking for any foreign word for turtle apparently, they then would have accepted tortue, skildpadde, or Schildkröte. Point is, IG is the division where a letter determined a championship match, so benefit of the doubt shouldn't be this blanket rule that hyper inflates scoring; fortunately it didn't matter.

He effectively cheated on two questions and the argument "who cares, he got away with it?" doesn't change the fact that it happened and it leaves a very bad taste.

So for me, since it didn't stop parker from getting the tko he earned, I won't dwell on it for too long. They can't even seem to decide what their rules are. They told us before that the answer would be accepted if it was phonetic, so for example, you could write "toretwoguh" because it's just misspelled and it's phonetically identical to tortuga, but tartuga is not phonetic to tortuga and neither is rowdy to roddy.

2 out of Parkers first 4 games have now been perfect games. That has to be some kind of record. Also, Roxy and Hanna trying to convince people that they shook Parker is laughable. I get it, she's a heel, she has to BS, but there have to be limits. @@Maitch3000 - Parker wasn't challenging, he was pointing out an error because Kristian hadn't realized it was spelled wrong. Kristian reversed the original ruling once he realized that Hanna had put Rowdy, noting "that's 2 different names." I guess if he had had said, "no, that's close enough" then Parker would have had to challenge or at least consult with Kaiser about it. I think there is too much of people quickly flashing their boards and then erasing it before there is a chance for a challenge. This is why I believe that EVERY white board question should be played like overtime, everyone say your answer and keep your board up before anyone is told correct or incorrect, THEN make one ruling who is right and who is wrong for each question. If you both make different errors then you are either both right (benefit of the doubt) or both wrong if it's not close enough. If one person is absolutely correct and the other is slightly wrong, this is where the judges have to make a ruling in consultation with the rule book and consistency with the precedent they want to keep or in opposition to any precedent they want to overturn. This would have helped in the Free 4 All as well. I don't want to give the specific example since it is not yet public and some people might be trying to stay spoiler free.

He had one of the most popular categories in all of IG and the questions were easy enough for me to score well on (I am bad at IG questions generally). The reality is that Parker comfortably beat him despite having a harder category in round 2 and can we be done with the whole "My BEATEN player played better but just got unlucky nonsense" Parker was demonstrably better considering he stole points from Hanna in round 2 which shows that with the same category as Hanna he would have outscored him anyway

This was a complete game today. Lots of knowledge, good strategy elements, and some good challenges as well. This was the parker that so many people hyped up today. He didn't miss a single question and showcased the type of broad knowledge that makes him such a formidable opponent. Parker also was a shark with those challenge opportunities because those are the types of things that can swing a match. Also, Kaiser did a good job laying out how the judges were likely going to rule during the 'tartuga' challenge (especially since upon googling it, tartuga does mean turtle in portuguese, so while I disagree with it being right, Parker likely would have lost if he challenged) and that seemed to refocus Parker a bit. Parker v Chance II (assuming that's his next match) should be a great one. Hanna's needed his a game today to hang with Parker, and he didn't have it today. Overall, Hanna is better than this; and he did have a rough draw by getting star wars in round two. That said, him getting tkoed was somewhat expected and it would have happened even sooner if had Roxy not secured him a point in round one by making a very strong challenge (even if I don't agree that 'ROW-DY and 'RHOD-DY' are the same thing). Hanna will bounce back and probably pick up some tournament points for the stars; but, he's just not a title threat in IG.

It's Rowdy Roddy Piper, not Roddy Roddy Piper... just sayin'. And they say Tortuga numerous times during the film and even again in the sequel, so it should be pretty clear that it's not Tartuga. He even misspelled Laurence (not Lawrence) Fishburne, but I would have let that go. The bungled ruling on the David O'Russell challenge is the genesis of all these terrible rulings that we've seen since; it's like a terrible Supreme Court ruling poisoning decades of jurisprudence by setting a bad precedent.

Personally I wouldn't have given either of the points to Brandon but the managers know that if they had challenged there was a chance that the benefit of the doubt rule could work against them. This year I'm seeing a few of these where they are letting players get away with some stuff because the answer was in the ballpark of what they were looking for. Is it right or wrong? I don't know. If it becomes a problem I'm sure they'll address it with an amendment to the rules but right now, as it stands, this is how it will be with us pendants wanting accurate answers while the judges want fewer headaches. I really dont like some of those new Innergeek categories. Planet of Apes geek? Really? Ive being a geek for most of my life, never saw anyone placing PLanet of Apes at part of the geek culture. Star Wars has exclusive matchs, why did they had to expand the Innergeekdom?
