"Leffen is phenomenal across different fighting games and nobody will argue that" I will. Outside of Smash, Leffen has only been successful in Guilty Gear STRIVE and Dragon Ball FighterZ. Both of these are considered easy/simple games. DBFZ in particular was significantly easier to pick up and play compared to a ton of other FGs at the time (and even today tbh). Leffen always played strong teams centered around potent 50/50 mixups (characters like Android 21 and Base Vegeta while using strong assists like SSJ Vegeta) so that he could easily open up opponents. In STRIVE he found succcess with Chipp (Top tier and broken on release + easiest version of the character), Zato (top tier back then and by far the easiest version of Zato to date), and Happy Chaos (top tier, pretty easy to play outside of some Execution demands on release which got lessened in a patch). Notice how when he plays other characters (such as Slayer) he gets shit on and ragequits online locals and blames it on the game rather than him making bad decisions with the characters he's using. Tekken? He was ass and got frustrated with the game and when Tekken players tried to teach him he was a dick to them. In SF6 when it launched he did not place well in any tournaments. He could have picked an easy top tier like JP (I honestly don't know who he was playing at the time, probably Juri who was/is top tier and easy). And yet he didn't do good. SF6 is not a baby game like STRIVE or DBFZ (I say this as a former DBFZ player who considered it my favorite FG for years until all the Season 4 patches I used to LOVE that game). Leffen has gotten carried by either his characters or because these games genuinely ARE easy to play. It is evident Leffen actually isn't that good at fighting games because his only success is on Snash or these simnpler games with easy top tiers that dominate the field during the time he played them. You don't see Leffen playing hard games and winning at those like Tekken, Street Fighter, King of Fighters, BlazBlue (not BBTag that game sucks ass), Under Night In-Birth, GGXrd, etc.

Only tangentially related, and this also doesn't discredit his obvious skill in Fighting Games, but I'm hoping the Leffen hate gets to the point that people realize he isn't a very innovative top player. Leffen apes top characters and tends to go for optimized (at the time) plays. Unlike real masters of their craft, Leffen rarely if ever innovates or develops new character tech on his own and often is even caught with less than perfect character knowledge despite his professional play. The dude literally picked up Shiek to answer Fox meanwhile Cody Shwab basically solved the match-up and has taken the character to new heights. Leffen is a good gamer, that much is true, but he doesn't really come across as someone who really knows how to push the game to its natural limits which is something that can be said for each game's respective top talent.
