Malaysia had the number 1 ranked badminton player in the World back from 2008 to 2012 and he won 3 silver medals at the Olympics. I wish them the best, it would be amazing to see them get gold. Paraguay might boost its chances in the long term: in 2022 they hosted the South American Games and it brought lots of attention to sports there and some feats have been achieved in sports since then, something unheard of for Paraguay. So far their only hope would be football, they do not look so strong for the upcoming football tournament, though. Iceland has a strong handball team but since they failed to qualified to Paris it seems there is no chance, I so want to be wrong. Saudi Arabia was so close to gold twice: 400 meters hurdles where Saudi Arabia was three hundredths of a second short of gold and in 2020 in karate where the Saudi fighter was leading the final match but he was disqualified for an illegal kick, a call that surprised many.
