I would like to add something about having relationships with inmates. If you are a woman that loves attention from men, either don't work in corrections or quit now. These male inmates will give any and all female employees, cos and medical, all kinds of attention. I have been cat called, I have been told what they want to do with my *****. I have been guaranteed an amazing back massage if I can do something for them. I have been stared at and ogled at. I have been shown more penises than I have ever wanted to see. If you are a female that is going to fall for all of those blatant lies, EITHER DON'T WORK OR GET OUT OF CORRECTIONS!!! If you drop your panties for anything and everything that swings, corrections is not the place for you. If you cheat on your husband, corrections is not the place for you. On the issue of bringing in contraband, (sighs) If you value money more than your freedom, corrections is not the place to work at. That is one thing I don't understand. We go thru body scanners and subject out body to radiation. Some facilities even require us to take our shoes off. With all of the search procedures we go thru to start our shift, contraband still gets in. (sigh). I don't understand how??? If you are the type of person to do any and everything for money, corrections is not the place to work at.

You hit the nail on the head with this one. An Officer I worked with as a Sergeant used to say something to all new staff. "It is too easy to do your job than to try to explain why you didn't." Great content, Sir.

In A Nutshell, The 4 Things That Can Get A Correctional Officer Fired: 1) Dishonesty 2) Allowing An Escape 3) Failure To Prevent A Suicide 4) Bringing In Contraband And / Or Having Relations With Inmates

In my experience one of the thangs to leading to ( tweaking) a use of force paper work is the agency and supervisors not having your back and not even thinking twice about throwing you under the bus just to save it’s self

With the high ass turnover rate they have in corrections (at least in my area) you would think they’d go easy on the firing they need employees.

Always strive to do the right thing, even when nobody is looking. You are on the clock. Work, when you are at work. Be professional, and follow policy and procedures. You should never have to worry about being fired, if you are doing your J-O-B.

Very good list Russ. There are a lot of good hearted cops out there that might just do a little something to help out an inmate they think needs help. Nothing major, just let him cut in line at canteen, let him finish the last bit of coffee from your pot, little stuff. Nothing law breaking, yet! It just takes one little thing for them to use against you in fear of losing your job to just do a little more, then a little more. Before you know it you’re bringing in cell phones from Walmart, or bringing in dope. Happens a lot. You can be good hearted just keep your head on straight, your job is more important than their troubles.

Can you do a video that covers the topic of getting fired during your probation period on the job as a new hire. You just swore in as a correctional officer and a week into training right after the pepper spray drill the next day you come in they fire you after class. Can't tell you why. but they tell you to make an appointment and meet with the sheriff if you wanna know why you where fired one week into just starting. Don't understand how one gets fired when they didn't even actually work yet just one week of training and didn't do anything wrong or crazy or know why got fired out of the blue. Passed everything honestly to become a correctional officer and get hired. 🤔

Sleeping with inmates, bringing them in contraband, supporting them during disputes with other staff, stealing their property, and helping them escape has become routine in the guard staff. Why are guards called officers? What laws do you enforce? Have you ever applied for an arrest or search warrant? Or go you just confiscate baloney sandwiches from inmates?

@russhamilton38003 жыл бұрын
So you will probably find the test will be standardized. For instance here in california all peace officers have to pass what is called the PELLETB exam. You should be able to Google the specifics for your state and test. PELLETB is reading comprehension, English, grammar and sentence composition and writing. Also some basic math. Google it right and you will likely find some practice tests online.

There are too many supervisors like that. The best I can tell you is do not swerve from your duty, stay a step ahead of them and if you have to question their orders or ask for clarifications on matters, leave a trail. I suggest email if you have it. Other than that, work past and around the guy, give him endless reports about mundane stuff. He will move on to someone else.

Hey can you make a video about the way corrections treat thier employees. I worked at Milwaukee county and my supervisors felt they had a right to go in my house by lying to the police making them think something was wrong with me when all I did was call in. No one ever got in trouble I did'nt get fired at at that time but I was put in situations of "Damed if I do or Damed if I don't I to make decesions that was best for me and I ended up getting fired, Corrections treat their employees horrible unless you are a favorite, at least Milwaukee County did.
