Not clearly stated, but the Lexus 3.5 V6 is the same as the Toyota engine. Why don't other manufacturers follow Toyota's M.O. If it works, don't change it. I almost said " if it ain't broke", but for some brands, they can't help it.

Toyota believes and exercises in continuous improvement. They make changes to all of their engines. BUT, the changes are very subtle and carefully thought out. What’s often called, mature design. Take a proven design and make it better very gradually. NO, reinventing the wheel.

Toyota is a "conservative" copmpany. They the SAME basic designs longer than other manufacturers, allowing them to get the "bugs" out, resulting in a reliable prroduct. Toyotas are not as reliable as they once were before the turn of the century because their new president started pushing quantity vs quality to get a better "bottom" line! Toyota STILL has the most consistent quality year to year.

So many brands do just that I don’t know what land you live in. They share most of the sales stuff because they want to lower costs by using the same things. The difference between Toyota and others is that others aren’t afraid to take risks, Toyota cars for the longest time was barebones. I mean they introduced Bluetooth so late when other companies are adding WiFi elsd rear steering etc. You should be reliable when your car offers nothing, that is standard across the board.

I think it is about time another car company was mentioned in terms of reliability. In 2015 my cousin bought a Mazda CX5. Other than routine maintenance, replacing a battery and tires, he has had no issues whatever with it. I am purchasing one now, for much less than the comparable Honda or Toyota. | would like to ask you a question, my brother, which one? Better driving and aggression BMW G20 or Lexus is 2021 please? Which is better, reliability? | know that the LexUs is better, but does the BMW really have poor reliability? For example, the oil cooler, loss of coolant, oil leakage, explosion of the coolant bottle. and what do you say in your opinion? Is it really a car that is not approved? I am talking about the 330/340/540. Is it really not certified because I usually tend toward a comfortable drive and a pleasant drive that I want in a car, but I was very afraid of the German, and I live in a country where fuel is considered relatively weak. What do you think?

Great list except for the Ford 3.5L ECOCRAP turbo. I have the last generation Lexus RX350 with the naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 and will keep it until the end of time. It's a somewhat boring, luxurious ride that had been absolutely reliable. Easily gets 28-29 MPG on the highway with regular 87 octane fuel. The Toyota Highlander shares the exact same engine, trans & platform. Both are equally reliable.

I agree totally that the V8 Fords are reliable. It's the ECO-BOOST engines that I would stay away from. Those turbos are okay under warranty, but once you get past 100kmiles, all bets are off. To replace a turbo, will cost thousands of dollars! The author of this video is making WILD assumptions about the turbo lasting 400k-500kmiles! Without turbo replacements? Are you kidding me? LMFAO

@@alabama2uz I agree! If anybody can build RELIABLE turbo engines, Toyota would be the one. It's just that a small engine with a turbo is REALLY going to be pushed to the limit with EXTREMELY HIGH internal engine temperatures. That IS NOT a receipe for longevity! Also, you have to realize that Toyota durability (today) is NOT what it was in 1980. Back the, everyone else was TRYING to catch up to Toyotas' STELLAR durability. Toyota WAS the STANDARD with the TPS (Toyota Production System). Today, Toyotas' priority is producing MORE vehicles, which means Quality suffers! I PERSONALLY would NOT buy any vehicle with a turbo! There are enough NA engines available that generate respectable power. Btw, you have to give Toyota credit for being among the first to use "dual injectors" on their GDI engines. Well done, Toyota!!

The early ones were smaller and sportier. They got bigger and more powerful. The early RDX I drove was super fun. A small Honda on steroids is Nirvana for me personally. And I like the MDX-SH. It does have an internal water pump which can be costly ( 1200-1500$) depending on where you are located. We 3 cx 5.. the most reliable so far. My family have own rav4, rouge, crv, Forester. 350, 000 on 2015 cx 5. 260,000 km on my wife 2014. 73,000 so far on my 2019 turbo. The rav4 had more recalls than I can remember. The Nissan rouge was good, 180,000 before traded. CVT was starting to go. My sister's crv is good. AC problems. The Forester too many problems. Fuel line leaking, head gasket, wheel bearing, Subaru install new clutch that was slipping up hills. The icing on the cake. The cx 5 is like driving a Miata. However, Mazda needs to make better seats. No thigh support.this is the reason my wife traded hers for a Ford escape. The escape has 140,000 . It does drive well . Not as sporty as the cx5 but close. Hers has the 2 litre turbo. Also, underrated is the Mitsubishi outlander. Three neighbors have them with close 300,000 km. Toyota and Honda have gone crazy with their prices in Canada. My 2 cents worth, look at other manufacturers... Their products are cheaper and better. Mazda is one example but I am sure there are others. Toyota CEO comes out in public saying that consumers will have to pay over 50 grand for rav 4. They have also added dealers fees 1800 to 2 grand. I wish consumers will do more research. Someone at work wanted a used Rav4. He paid 36 grand for a 2021 with 63,000 km. I told him to buy a new cx 5 for that amount. He was so brainwashed that I could not convince him. After, 1 month he had to change all brakes. Also, complained about how loud it was. Well, did not want to say I told you so. There are 4 friends who bought 2 cx 5, 1 cx 30 and a cx5. All very happy, 2 were previously rav4 owners. When, they tried to get rav4, they were told they have to wait 6 months and the price was over 50 grand. That was the regular rav4. 😢

They had a problem with oil dilution but it was an entirely new setup engine/turbo. Basically a motorcycle-sized engine, with a turbo which means it won’t generate much heat quickly in cold weather - thus the oil dilution issue. It’s efficient, and reliable. Honda has been very slow to incorporate turbos, for good reasons. I would trust that engine for sure, as I trust Honda. But don’t be stingy on oil changes. And if you drive it hard and long, maybe let it idle a bit before shutting down. And check your oil more often: checking level and viscosity. Maybe even see if it smells like fuel. Check with Honda to fully understand.

Timing belt is a huge negative. When it first breaks, most people sent the vehicles to the junkyard after 20 years. So, the new Hondas rate very low on durability now. You're better off with Chrysler's 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine instead.

What years does the honda passport have a timing chain instead of a timing belt? This is a big issue, as honda engines are interference engines, if the timing belts breaks, the engine is toast. Timing chains can last for hundreds of thousands of miles. The honda crv got a timing chain from 2002 onwards, before that they had a timing belt.

And also buying this. Not the garbage crap 5.4L triton V8 three valves. And it can last over 500k km without any of troubles 😄😄😄😄

I hate to burst your "Ford" bubble, but the 2.7L, ECO-BOOST engines are under investigation for CATASTROPHIC engine failures in the new Broncos. The engines are said to be developing cracks in the castings due to "thermal cycling" (wear and tear). So far, it is just an investigation by NHSTA and Ford is not (YET) recalling any Broncos. Stay tuned!
