The influence of Kojeve’s kinda odd reading of Hegel is so interesting. I think it’s Todd McGowan who said that when Lacan is most Hegelian is when he claims to be breaking from Hegel, and when he claims to be Hegelian he’s being Kojevean

I absolutely agree with that idea. People who have never read Hegel imagine something so detached from what it actually is, that when they “go against him”, they are actually repeating Hegel’s ideas. That’s what happened with Marx’s famous “putting Hegel on his head”.

" I just don´t read novels anymore" jajaja xD... la última que leí (después de muuucho tiempo, en plena cuarentena del 2020) fue precisamente "Después del invierno" (Guadalupe Nettel). Es una autora interesante. .

Woah! This is unlike any year end book review that I’ve seen. May I ask about your connection to literature? I’ve never seen someone read so many theory books in a year before. Thank you for the overview!
@edpavez2 жыл бұрын
I’m a writer (playwright) so that’s my connection with literature! :) It’s been about eight years since I read almost exclusively theory and poetry. I started because I felt like I needed a more solid theoretical background, and then it just took over my reading habits.

Have you read The Truth & Life of Myth by Robert Duncan? If not, I have a feeling you might dig it. We have similar literary interests (theory, philosophy and poetry). Thanks for sharing your 2021 reading list!

I have not! It’s going to my list. :)

Hey Eduardo, what was the spark the got you into Hegel? I imagine these books are references for your dissertation.
@edpavez2 жыл бұрын
A few of them are, some are just for my own enjoyment. I got into Hegel because I wanted a challenge, so I decided to read The Phenomenology of Spirit, and then I realized I did not understand a single word and felt “oh, ok. is that so? Well, I’m gonna study until I understand this”, and so, here I am.

I'm wondering - is there any particular reason why you don't read novels anymore?
@edpavez2 жыл бұрын
It’s been years since I don’t enjoy it much. I get bored easily and don’t really care about fictional people. I want to go back into it, but mostly because I recognize it will help me develop my English skills further.
