Dr. Rhonda, I think you’re showing your bias toward heat and omega 3. :) I think Dr Layne and others in the field of muscle mass would rate: protein intake, resistance training, calorie surplus AND sleep as their top 4 if you want to put on muscle. Sleep is WAY more important than heat… It’s not even close.

Do you mind putting the actual DOI for the research studies up that you are referring to?

Absolutely. Heat and omega 3 together wouldn't even be 10% as important as a calorie surplus or sleep

I think she’s referring to maintaining muscle mass not necessarily gaining. A calorie surplus wouldn’t be ideal if you’re wishing to maintain muscle mass. She did have an episode with a researcher on the role of omega-3s and maintaining muscle mass in several different populations.

Heat?! Like the 98° outside my apartment right now? It's making me a lot of things but swoll ain't one.

Actually, when it comes to the order of things, it’s resistance training first, then protein, and then maybe omega 3. You can eat all the protein you want but if you’re not creating the greater stimulus by resistance training, it why be enough to stop muscle loss as you age let alone build new muscle tissue. Also, not enough good quality data to suggest saunas play a major role in building muscle.

What about calorie surplus and sleep???? I’m sure this clip is out of context but come on

Yeah, idk who's behind this channel's shorts, but they are doing a huge disservice to Rhonda's "branding image". Anyone deep into evidence-based fitness knows that's absolutely bs. If they're coming across her content for the first time, they probably won't even take her seriously in any other science topic because of this 🤦‍♀️

Just recently started hypertrophy training taking the training seriously, consistently, and my gym has a sauna and i get plently of omega 3 intake plus other essential vits and creatine and Rhonda isnt lying here, its suprising how fast im making gains even considering im basically a biginner again.

Um no. I can do it on low protein, almost no omega 3s, and no sauna.

Nope. Protein, weightlifting close to failure with 6-30 reps a few sets per muscle, enough calories to grow, and recovery (sleep/rest). If we are talking supplements, TRT and creatine. For performance, caffeine, hydration and electrolytes. Fish oil/Heat isn't even in the top 10.

@toadpickle
@toadpickle 10 күн бұрын
More lean muscle mass associated with lower body fat and higher metabolism, stronger immune system, higher energy levels, lower risk of osteoporosis and bodily injuries, and then obviously strength to perform daily tasks.
