​@@vatsalsrivastav5195 Basically: - Dark didn't exist at all - Ghost was accidentally programmed to do nothing against Psychic - Bug had VERY few Pokémon and Moves and each and every single one of them were beyond pathetic - Ghost Moves in Gen 1 were also extremely weak anyways so even if Ghost affected Psychic at all, the damage dealt would remain minimal - Special Attack and Special Defense were treated as a single stat, so many Psychic Types were stupidly powerful and resilient special-wise because of that - Mewtwo Long story short: because of bad coding and weird design choices, Psychic Types essentially had 0 counters

I literally just complained about how he missed psychic types and I have you know there's a pink little elephant twice as powerful as Mewtwo just because of one attack and combined with an ability dream eater and its ability is I don't remember what it's called but whenever you did contact damage you would fall asleep and it would gain 80% of the amount of damage as health not only that it does a crazy amount of damage 140 or 120 power combine that with the elephants special attack and you have a very powerful Pokemon that you can't do anything about

Edit: Let me clarify a little, since my original comment was ambiguous. Fairy is so good that it's clearly the best type, especially offensively. It overtook dragon as the "broken" type, dropping it (arguably) two rankings to third, as it beats it in a type matchup. Steel, already a good type, gained from fairy type being added, but it didn't gain more than fairy did, because even being strong against a great type doesn't make it overall better than that type (like, say, electric and ground, electric being solid, but ground being better including because it's super effective against a good type, making it a better type).

The problem with the Ground type is that the three types it is weak to (Water, Grass, and Ice) are all types that specialize in Special Attack, and last time I checked, Ground types generally tend to lack in Special Attack. There are also certain Ground type Pokémon that have a secondary type that makes them double weak to one of these three types, such as Zygarde. As for Dragon types, they can only hit themselves for super effective damage, are resisted by Steel, and have no effect on Fairy. They are also only powerful because of their stats. And oh yeah, the Ghost type is one of the least represented types in all of Pokémon, because for the time being, there are only 70 out of 1008 Pokémon that have the Ghost type. The lack of Ghost type Pokémon really limits the Ghost type's options for being dominant.

The issue with ground is that flying and grass are the only two true checks to them as Bug type pokemon that are historically popular in VGC don't resist Ground like Volcarona and Scizor. This makes the ground type very threatening especially when it covers all direct checks Fairy type pokemon(target the fairy type first not the secondary type), hitting 5 types for SE. I agree with Dark being a good type, but it's not necessarily top tier even if the facts tell you that it's less resisted than the ghost type on the basis of all pokemon in the game, it is also weak to the Fairy type but strong and resistant to the ghost type. Pokemon that are well typed, with valuable move pools bulky, and with good abilities such as Incineroar can take advantage the Dark type, as can Grimmsnarl.
